Rosemary Ashe

Rosemary Ashe (born March 28, 1953) is an English stage actress. She is perhaps most famously known as the original Carlotta in the premier London production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. More recently, she was the original Miss Andrew in the London production of Mary Poppins.

Ashe is trained in opera, having studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the London Opera Centre.

Among her previous notable roles are Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables, Yum Yum in The Metropolitan Mikado, Widow Corney in Oliver!. In 2001 she portrayed the character Felicia Gabriel in the musical The Witches of Eastwick at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, a role that earned her an Olivier award nomination for Best Supporting Performance by an Actress in a Musical. In July 2007, she performed the role of the Beggar Woman in a concert version of Sweeney Todd alongside Bryn Terfel and Philip Quast at London's Royal Festival Hall.[1]
