Rose Gentle is the mother of Gordon Gentle, a 19 year old from Pollok who was killed while serving in Iraq.[1] Some claimed that this was through the failure of the UK government to provide adequate equipment to their armed forces.[1] Since his death she has campaigned against the Iraq War and set up the Justice 4 Gordon Gentle campaign. Alongside Reg Keys she is a founder member of Military Families Against the War.

Rose Gentle contested the East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow seat in the 2005 general election against Armed Forces minister Adam Ingram.[2] Despite the Scottish Socialist Party standing down to give Gentle a free run,[3] she only received 3.2% of the vote, coming second last place in the constituency.[2]

Rose Gentle has announced her intentions to again contest the East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow seat in the upcoming 2009 general election. She intends to stand as a candidate for the Spectre party to contest local labour MP and Armed Forces minister Adam Ingram.
