[edit] Brian Hassan
The article Brian Hassan has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:57, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- Deleted again -- please read WP:BIO. Just because you can locate a Hassan on the web doesn't mean they're notable enough for a Wikipedia article. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:00, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hassan Township
After looking up the name in the Minnesota Historical Society's recent book on place names, the Township of Hassan is actually a Dakota name from chanhasen meaning sugar-maple tree. Since the township of Chanhassen, Minnesota established prior, they decided to drop the chan syllable which means tree. The spelling HasSAN was a corruption of hassen. So sorry it hit your radar of Hassan-related article edits.
The origin of the name comes from the Dakota word chanhasen meaning the "sugar-maple tree" (chan, tree; haza, a tree with sap). Since the then township of Chanhassen established two years before Hassan, the chan syllable was dropped to avoid confusion.[3]

- First warning STOP let me calmly explain that I have found the source for the etymology of the name Hassan Township. Even if it is a cognate of your Arabic name Hassan, is not relevant to the article because that is not what it is derived from. Perhaps if you offered a source to your assertion that Hassan Township is in fact somehow related to an Irish or Arabic name... I would doubt this since there is an official record of its name. It would also be in poor taste to the Native American heritage of this area to fight an established source. Not only that but in looking at the edit history, you deleted my material initially. I think you ought to read up on Wikipedia rules and discuss in talk pages before you assert anything, especially if it is not sourced. .:DavuMaya:. 03:13, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
