Guillermo Roude Biografia http://www.guillermoroude.com

Guillermo Roude: Biography of a heart devoted to music Guillermo Roude´s career is both long and fruitful. He was in constant struggle between obligations and the call of talent. Guillermo, an artistic soul, gave his firsts steps into music in Mar del Plata, where he was born. At the beginning of the eighties, he was one of the most important and known musician of Mar del Plata and its vicinity. That was achieved thanks to his fighting spirit and self-management.

Mar del Plata, a city that gives everything and nothing at the same time It is impossible to speak of an artist without considerating his context. Guillermo Roude grew as person and an artist in Mar del Plata, one of the most beautiful and, at the same time, complex cities of Argentina. A city capable of giving everything and nothing at the same time. In that city he studied and became a professional, in its streets enjoyed the company of his friends. Besides, he was part of a harsh reality that, sometimes, makes its best children to leave their country. Undoubtedly that is the reason why, from a distance, the mystery of Mar del Plata has still a great connection with Guillermo, emotionally and musically speaking…

Mar del Plata I love you, Mar del Plata In 1985 Guillermo Roude, consolidated in the music business after playing in several places and festivals organized by music pioneers in Mar del Plata, released his first album “Un canto a la libertad” with the contribution of Claudio Campos, Fabián Rossini, Luis Reales and Alejandro Rossini. The album included 9 songs, in which stand out “Viejo”, “Yo te quiero Mar del Plata” and “Un canto a la libertad”. “Viejo”, which was dedicated to his father, shows the every-day presence of his dear affections, apart from a kind message to his beloved father.

Courage to change The following year, Guillermo Roude consolidated his repertoire and thus he included topics that became a classic in his songs: friends, meetings, mate and the courage to share the building of the future. Seeking an identity as an artist, released “Con risas o sin ellas”, in which Ricardo Panza played the guitar, Claudio Campos played the drums, Gerardo Sainz played the keyboard and Germán Palmisciano played the bass. Alejandro D’Angelo also was part of the album, contributing in the edition of it. They built a long-lasting relationship. In 1986 things were getting harder, and as consequence, Guillermo started thinking of leaving the city with which he was so attached. Sometimes a person needs to have courage to change, one has to have strength to accept one’s destiny. As a consequence, The United States of America became the new place under the sun for Guillermo Roude. To go against destiny In The United States Guillermo Roude carve out his professional side in architecture. However, music never was in a second place. Some passions never take a rest. Hardship and tiredness never stop Guillermo from composing and playing.

Abanico de colores was released in 1990, amidst Argentine economic crisis. The album, recorded in Aguilar Studios in Buenos Aires, with the contribution of Gerardo Sainz and José Luis Asaresi, “Abanico” is an oasis in the desert, is the everlasting hope beyond the vicissitudes that a person has to deal with. “Date un poquito de felicidad” is the concrete proof of that: in the middle of a social, economic and cultural implosion of a country, there is a positive message in the lyrics of Guillermo. Sometimes with anger, but stating that an identity cannot be sold, and with the idea of finding a way out. Occasionally one has to experience things in a different city and with different people.

In the exile, one can still be alive Long and difficult years went by in the nineties. A new country, with strange people and quaint customs, or at least for a newcomer. In California, protected by his friends and having willpower, Guillermo Roude won a place and changed that experience in positive energy. A major incentive was the fact that he was awarded with the third price in the OTI´s Festival in California, in 1993. The 1st of January, 1996, an ordinary evening became into a magic one: “Sigo vivo” was born. The musician, the composer, the guitarist, the lyricist convinced himself that there was no more time for excuses. He found himself and consequently started singing, sharing that experience with his fans. The album was deeply inspired by his paternity. His father’s principles will be transmitted to those tiny persons that had filled the house with joy and emotion. Once children are among us, love for life becomes immense.

Crossover: Argentina United States In 1997, an idea started to going around Guillermo’s head: he would try to experiment with sounds, and instruments would stand out. The result is “Lucky man”, his 5th studio album, much more introspective than the previous one since in this album Guillermo played every single instrument. “Lucky man” includes 9 songs, all of them instrumental, and perhaps his funniest album since in the others he always showed a strong presence with lyrics.

The return of the beloved son In 2003, Guillermo Roude planned again his career towards Argentina. That same year “Guillermo Roude: 20 Años de Música” was released, an anthology which includes his previous 5 albums. Said anthology was performed in an unforgettable show in Tronador Theatre in Mar del Plata, the same theatre where he presented in 1985 his first album “Un canto a la libertad”. The show, loaded with emotion, is available now in DVD format.

A new period, full of spider webs and dreams. In 2004, after meeting a new group of work that enabled him to show all his potential as an artist, Guillermo Roude released “Telarañas en el alma”. Said album is, unquestionably, the highest point in his long musical career. “Telarañas”, artistically directed by Roly Ureta had as a key concept touching the audience by encourage them to leave the passiveness and thus becoming actors of their own destiny. “Telarañas” is an album that inspires people to fulfill their dreams, to follow them, not to give up what they love to do.

While recording the album, prior to his arrival to Buenos Aires, Guillermo was unexpectedly awarded. Univisión network had convoked to all Latin singer-song writers living in the United States. The person who won the contest would represent them in Viña del Mar Festival in Santiago de Chile. More than 600 hundred songs were presented for this major event, and the song “Bolsillos Vacios” by Guillermo Roude was chosen as one of the best 5 songs. As a consequence, on the 19th, November of that year Guillermo Roude performed live in "Despierta America", a daily show, broadcasted nationally by Univisión network, which had an audience of more than 20 million people. That meant a great recognition for the career of the soloist born in Mar del Plata prior to the release of “Telarañas en el Alma” on December, 18th in Colón Theatre. That show had a great impact in the city .

2005: the future is always there In 2005 Guillermo Roude went through another way. Still in the United States, he planned to lure new audiences. Mar del Plata is now a small city but from there Guillermo Roude, sponsored by Epidauro Music, released “Telarañas en el Alma” nationally. The beginning of a new period had come, full of dreams on it…
