[edit] Ron Wooten is the president of NovaQuest and the executive vice president of corporate development at Quintiles Transnational Corporation.

Background
Ron Wooten (born on June 29, 1959 in Bourne, Massachusetts) serves as the president of NovaQuest and the executive vice president of corporate development at Quintiles Transnational Corporation (Quintiles). Prior to joining Quintiles, Wooten was with First Union Securities Corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina, most recently as a Managing Director of Investment Banking. In this capacity, he advised corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate finance strategies. Earlier in his career at First Union, he helped formulate the product offerings and delivery channels for the company's capital markets business. Wooten received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his MBA from Boston University. Before beginning his financial career, Wooten was an Offensive Guard with the New England Patriots football team for nearly a decade.

NovaQuest Leadership
As president of NovaQuest, Wooten is an expert in financing strategies that companies are using to develop their products and bring them to market. He is also an expert in the increased use of strategic outsourcing by large pharmaceuticals to lower its high fixed-cost infrastructure and increase utilization rates, and by emerging biotech companies to access a “virtual” global development platform rather than build their own. Since its formation in 2000, Wooten has led NovaQuest in creating and managing unique partnerships with more than $2 billion committed in capital or services to companies of all sizes – from “Big Pharma” to start-up biotechs.

NovaQuest has been a pioneer in crafting financial and strategic solutions to help life-science companies improve product development and promotion, and better manage growth and profits. Quintiles provides managed partnership solutions to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare industries. They have been involved in the development and/or commercialization of the top 30 best-selling pharmaceutical products and 9 of the top 10 biotech products.

Quintiles Overview
Founded in 1982 by Dennis Gillings, Ph.D., CBE, and headquartered near Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, Quintiles has offices in more than 50 countries and provides service in many more. The foundation of the company is based on managed partnerships that improve healthcare world wide. Quintiles helps customers succeed by providing services and solutions via three major groups:
