Ronnie Day (born Ronald Guglielmone, Jr. on January 18, 1988) is an American singer-songwriter from Redwood City, California. He has released an independent album titled Nine Sleepless Nights and a second album titled The Album which was released on November 14, 2006 by Sony/BMG/Epic.
Day started his public music career in a San Francisco Bay Area band called "Sounds Like Life," which also featured John Vesely, who is now the principal artist in the acoustic-based band "Secondhand Serenade."[1]
In 2006, Day signed with Epic Records after an industry-wide bidding war. He toured for one year, and was eventually dropped by his record label in June 2007. He has recently started his own company, Simplify Music, with plans to release a self-produced CD in 2009.[2]
Most of Day's fanbase was initially on the Internet via his MySpace page, but it expanded as he toured the U.S. and had television exposure.
His song "Falling for You" has been heavily featured on various MTV shows, most notably The Real World: Denver and The Hills.
mtvU is producing The Ronnie Day Project, a narrative episodic music video series based on the music from his debut album The Album. The series is directed by Joshua Caldwell, who won an MTV Movie Award for mtvU's Best Film on Campus at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards. The series will take place over six episodes, with each one a chapter of a larger story, following the narrative from Ronnie's album.[3][4]
