[edit] Story
This is the story of the war of the Bretwald Kingdom, the continent that's situated at the center of Bravord, against the empire Grand Meir. After the funeral ceremony of the fallen king, the neighboring empire, Grand Meir, sent their soldiers to attack the knights of Bretwald. Several men have fallen by their hand. The only survivors, led by Serdic, fled to the Federation of Shalem Emirate.
[edit] Playable Characters
[edit] Serdic
Formerly Prince Serdic's body double, the identically named Serdic took his place permanently when the prince was killed during Grand Meir's invasion. The crown prince passed the holy blade to him and asked him to fulfill his dying wishes. Serdic is now on a quest to reclaim Bretwalde, but he must take care not to let his allies know that he is not the real Serdic.
[edit] Kay
Kay is a young soldier from the Bretwald Army who escaped from the kingdom with Serdic. At times, Kay rushes in to things without thinking. He fights on horseback, allowing him to wield a two-handed spear. In battle, his partner is Margus.
[edit] Margus
With his tough armor, Margus serves as the heavy infantryman of the group. His rough exterior belies his easygoing attitude. He also joins up with Kay and Serdic. Due to Kay's actions, Margus constantly reminds him to not rush into situations easily. Margus would never forget to strike up conversations with any girl he sees pass by him.
[edit] Sasha
A swordswoman of the Shalem Federation who is constantly at Ansom's side to guard his life. She is secretly in love with him... though it isn't much of a secret.
[edit] Marie
Prince Serdic's younger sister by blood, she has been living in a Veronan monastery. She is soft-spoken, but has ferocious inner strength and cares deeply for her older brother.
[edit] Ansom
The son of Emir Darsin, he is popular with all of Shalem's tribes, and is a likely candidate to take charge of the Federation someday. Once the Empire began its invasion, he decided to journey with his old friend Serdic.
[edit] Owl
Owl acts as they Commander of the Wise Bandits, who make Mount Gareh their base of operations. People refer to him as a "Gentle Thief. As with Margus, he too, forbids his gang from rash and crude behavior. He also dislikes the sea, due to a tragic event in his past.
[edit] Igraine
A witch of the Order of Anrah. She becomes attached to Serdic and joins the Bretwalde army. Though a young girl, she sometimes acts like Serdic's big sister, and she is one of the few who knows his secrets.
[edit] Selmer
An Ice warlock from Almeria. He is mature for his age, and intensely devoted to his studies. He joins the Bretwalde army under the order of his master, Arios.

Selmer's younger twin brother. Frustrated with the Ark, he joins Grand Meir at Ernest's invitation. He is rude and abrasive, but more polite when it comes to his master, Arios.
[edit] Alhambra
One of the rare beastmen who live in Bravord's deserts. She believes that her bestial form is due to a curse, and journeys to find a cure for it. She's usually easygoing, but can't stand it when people talk about her appearance.

A Fire warlock from Almeria. He is head of the Ark's Sixth Research Laboratory, and mentor to Selmer and Elmer. He has a vast knowledge of all things magical, but tends to get caught up in research for its own sake. He has almost no interests other than magic.
[edit] Cotton
A selfish, irresponsible, and happy-go-lucky witch. A glutton that puts her own hunger ahead of everything else. Her full name is Nata de Cotton. She came to Bravord looking for her favorite thing, a delicacy called Willow, but somewhere along the way, she hit her head and lost her memory.
[edit] Rukia

[edit] Features
[edit] Errand System
Throughout the course of the game players recruit a variety of characters, some of which may not be able to participate in battle. This is where the Errand System comes in. The player can send inactive party members do various chores. These activities range from buying supplies to entering the player into various Quests.
[edit] Battle System
Rondo of Swords makes use of a unique battle system known as the "Route Maneuver System." Players will get to set a character's course through an area. If enemies counterattack, or block an attack, that character's advance will be stopped. Players can also attack multiple enemies in one swift move. However, the character's path cannot double back, so players should plan character routes carefully before beginning the maneuver.
[edit] OverBreak
Each person has a unique special ability called an OverBreak or OB. These OBs may be one of several types;
- Attack
- Supportive
Some characters have abilities that do not fall into either of these categories. OBs also have three ranks. As the player directs characters to attack enemies, the ranks will continue to increase. At the third ranking (or level), each character can unleash the OB's most powerful effect.
[edit] Skill Points
Players will earn Skill Points throughout the game, which in turn lets them purchase various skills. These include Magic and Supportive Skills that are unique to each specific character. However, not only will characters will be able to purchase new skills, but also they will get to strengthen the ones they already have. They earn skill points by leveling up.
[edit] Multiple Endings
Like with the Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross series, completing certain events or tasks will net gamers various endings. There are 4 possible endings in this game.
[edit] Journey of Trials
Players will endure various trials to show their strength and overall prowess. They will be awarded various items necessary to change their job class plus increase their overall potential.

To meet Wikipedia's content policies and video game article guidelines, this article or section may require cleanup. This article may contain strategy guide material, such as lists of minutiae or a detailed description of how to play the game. Such topics may be copied to a gaming wiki, but afterwards should be removed or rewritten in an encyclopedic style. To copy to a gaming wiki, replace this template with {{copy to gaming wiki}}. (March 2008). |
The usual flow of the game is as follows
- Story
- Preparation
- Battle
- Results (how well you did)
- Next Stage
Quitting the current battle will result in two options:
- Retry with using your same units
- Cancel errands and reform your party
Players must exercise caution in choosing the second option, as it will cancel all active errands, forcing the player to re-assign them to various characters. However, choosing either option will not result in an experience penalty; the game will still award characters with experience points they have earned thus far. In addition, any item used during battle will be returned.
