Ronan Keane

Ronan Keane is regarded as one of the foremost lawyers in Ireland of the 20th century; born on July 20th, 1932 in Dublin he is the retired Chief Justice. He was educated at the Holy Ghost Community's Blackrock College, Co Dublin. After this he studied at University College Dublin and graduated with a BA in Modern History in 1953.
The next year 1954 he was called to the Bar. He took silk, becoming a Senior Counsel in 1970.
He was appointed as a Judge of the High Court in July, 1979.
He is the author of many books including 'Company Law in the Republic of Ireland' .
Chief Justice Ronan Keane was conferred with a Doctorate Degree of Laws by University College Dublin in November, 2001. In 2004 his son Timothy died in what is believed to be a tragic accident.
Ronan Keane retired in 2004. Today he is much in demand as a speaker on matters of law.
