Ron Matthews was the original drummer for the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. He was with the group for the first two and a half years of their existence - 1975, 1976, and part of 1977. He was the first band member recruited by founder Steve Harris.
Matthews was fired, along with several other band members, when vocalist Dennis Wilcock persuaded Harris to clean house. He later played with Torme/Mcoy in the 1980s
