Romgaz is one of the biggest natural gas producers in Romania and Eastern Europe with 3600 wells in production and an annual output of 7 billion m3. The company has 6 underground deposits with a total storage capacity of 2.75 billion m3. In the summer of 2006 there were talks between Romgaz and Russian gas giant Gazprom of establishing an underground gas deposit at Ungheni but nothing materialised.
