Rome, Oregon

Rome is the name of an unincorporated community in Malheur County, Oregon, United States. It is part of the Ontario, OR–ID Micropolitan Statistical Area.

According to Oregon Geographic Names, it was named for some peculiar geologic formations that suggested the ruined temples of Rome, Italy. Its post office was established in 1909.

At one time there was also a community named "Rome" in Marion County, near Woodburn. It had its own post office from 1851–1852.
