Roman Empire (disambiguation)

The term "Roman Empire" can be used to denote any of a series of different entities, usually referring to one of the following:
- The government at Rome and its subject territory in the period immediately following the Roman Republic.
- More broadly, the entire period in ancient times in which there was a major power with its capital at Rome, whether republic or empire.
- The territory governed from Rome, or the governing institutions, during the periods above.
- The Roman Empire's continuation in the East as the Byzantine Empire. In certain specific contexts, usually referring to the time before the fall of the Western Roman Empire, it is also often referred to as the Eastern Roman Empire.
- The Holy Roman Empire (800–1806), later with the addition "of the German Nation". It developed out of the eastern part of the Frankish kingdom, encompassing Germany and Italy, and later developed into a political conglomeration of lands in Central Europe.
- "Roman's Empire" is a comedy show currently shown on BBC Two, starring Matthew Horne.
