Román Javier González (born January 28, 1978) in Punta Alta, Buenos Aires Province, is an Argentine basketball player. He is some 206-211 cm tall and plays the position of center. His career is as follows:

1998-2000: Deportivo San Andres (TNA, Argentine second division)

2000-2002: Libertad de Sunchales(Liga Nacional de Básquetbol, Argentina. Won the Liga Sudamericana of Clubes in the year 2003 and the Liga A in 2001.

2002-2003: Aguada BC (Uruguay)

2003-2005: Basket Rimini Crabs, (LegADue, Italian second division)

2005-2006: Argentino Atletico de Junin (Liga Nacional de Básquetbol, Argentina. He had a tough time in 2006, as in March that year he signed with Baloncesto León (LEB, Spanish second division) and left in May. In July 2006 he signed with Basket Club Ferrara in LegAdue, Italy. He left in August due to a contract conflicting problem and also an injury. He remained clubless till in November he signed with Al-Ittihad BC in Saudi Arabia but left due to not being paid :(

2006-2007: Regatas (Liga Nacional de Básquetbol, Argentina

May 2007: Signed with Trotamundos de Carabobo in the Venezuelan League. Left the team in about 3 weeks time :(

2007-2008: Peñarol Mar Del Plata (Liga Nacional de Básquetbol, Argentina)

May 2008: Signed with San Carlos in Dominican Republic (????)

Made his debut in 2003 against the Chile national basketball team.

2003 Pan American Games - 6th place

South American Basketball Championship 2003/04 - finalist

FIBA Americas Championship 2005 and 2007 editions (silver medal)

Stankovic Cup 2005 (final, silver medalist)

2007 Pan American Games - fourth place

He participrated in the Argentine All-Star Games in the years 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2008.

He was recently called up to the pre-selection squad of the South American Championship held in 2008, but it is sad that he has not been called up to the Olympics. -Please hope that he is one of the 3 players included in the Olympics.

Although he was born in Buenos Aires Province he represented Chubut in provincial competitions before. He used to hold an Italian passport.
