Notes on Rollie Zeider based on research I have done at the Willennar Genealogical Center in Auburn, Indiana:

1. His parents were William C. Zeider (1836-1917) and Lydia (Lidy) Smith Zeider (1841-1915). His father had several children by a previous marriage.

2. Although Rollie's place of birth is often given as Auburn, he was born at or near Hoover, Indiana, also known as Hooverville and Hoover Station, in rural Cass County, Indiana on the Eel River near Logansport. His father was a farmer there.

3. The 1900 US Census shows the family living in Auburn in 1900. Rollie's father then worked in a sawmill.

4. Rollie married Alberta Doyle (1890-1916). I do not know where or in what year the marriage took place. She died of tuberculosis on November 7, 1916, in Auburn.

5. Rollie married Margaret Pilgrim (born about 1895) in DeKalb County, Indiana on June 25, 1917. I have no information about when she died.

6. Rollie's local nickname in DeKalb County was "Polly."

7. After retiring from professional baseball, Rollie ran Polly's Tavern on North Peters Street in Garrett, Indiana.

8. Rollie moved to Orland, Indiana in neighboring Steuben County in 1959.

9. Rollie died in the Garrett Community Hospital in Garrett on September 12, 1967. He was buried beside Alberta in Block 14 of Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
