Talk:Roll-playing
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is the line about BadWrongFun really necessary? It's not 100% clear and it's a made-up term from a web forum. The article about BadWrongFun got deleted, too.
- Agree; I deleted it. Inside jokes from web-forums aren't very notable.--Shadowdrak 09:57, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] D&D singled out.
is there a real reason to single out D&D as a roll-playing game. not all players play in this manner nor is it the driving force for playing for many people. i am offended by the insinuation that this article makes about D&D being a roll-playing game.
yes dice do play a part in randomization of results, but the action taken come from choices make by the players. some people, i will give you; do play for the hack-and-slash but this is in many RPGs and not just D&D.
- Yes, this seems to be a blatant violation of NPOV. A) D&D intent in game design is unequivocally to avoid this phenomenon. It's arguable as to how well the system does this, but it clearly tries to. B) Dungeons & Dragons is not especially vulnerable to roll-playing. As much as I love Rifts, it could easily be considered to be more serious in this domain by some critics. I have edited the page. I imagine there may be some NPOV or weasel words problems with my edits, but hopefully it is an improvement. ArekExcelsior (talk) 00:07, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
