[edit] Pope John Paul Map

Looks good. But I didn't think China and Saudi Arabia were there.--Greasysteve13 04:56, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Okay cool. I've already added it.--Greasysteve13 10:25, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] USA evolution

Hmmm... on commons, sure, I guess. I don't see much use for it here, but there it could be useful. Thanks :) --Golbez 06:40, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re: clickable maps

[1]: oh really, its pretty useful isn't it? i need to spend extra time improving it like show the actual text in place of those boxes. be accurate in terms of font, size and location. also to turn it into an applet and fetch the images and wiki text automatically. and may be even save it automatically. -- Zondor 07:55, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NHL map

Hey, that map you made is pretty cool, and I think it improves the article quite a bit. I was just wondering if you could make it a little smaller, as for people who have small screens (800x600, or even 1024x768) it takes a considerable portion of the screen space. Thanks, -- Jeff3000 02:53, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for working on this. The labels on the image at User:Astrokey44/test nhl map2 do not align on the image; all the labels are to the North of their actual locations. In regards to getting the image to refresh, you can try adding "?action=purge" (without the quotes of course) to the end of the URL. This has solved some problems in the past when dealing with transcluded templates. Thanks again, -- Jeff3000 03:41, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Looks great, thanks. -- Jeff3000 15:01, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re: reply

[edit] Barnstar

The Original Barnstar
I, Zzyzx11, award you this barnstar for adding clickable maps to various articles. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 22:53, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I know.[2] I just wanted to give a barnstar to both of you. :-) Zzyzx11 (Talk) 02:58, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] US House of reps maps

Thanks for your comment. I never did get around to making maps for the congresses before 25, partly because I started hitting a lot of transition periods like the 1830's and 1850's where the assignment of members to parties seems very arbitrary, which made me feel like the differential maps, in particular, were becoming meaningless. I might get to it some time in the future. :-) Willhsmit 06:08, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Historical blank world maps

Great work on the world maps that you just posted over on WikiProject Maps. Do you possibly have these maps by continent? As part of WikiProject Former countries, I am interesed in making location maps for ex-states. Your world maps are great for this, but if you made any higher-resolution versions of these files while you were making them, they would be most appreciated. Keep up the good work! - 52 Pickup 18:33, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words. Maybe I should place these images on the commons, but I wasn't sure about the file size (each map is 0.7-1 MB in size - such is the problem with SVG files). Also, there is a German user who has already created a series of SVG images for these maps using the same map source data as I have. They are already on the Commons (see commons:Category:Maps of the history of Germany) but I didn't really like his version since it did not show the area around Germany, making it look (to me) like an island.
Using your Image:BlankMap-World-WWI.PNG map, I have created a location map for German East Africa. When originally working on this page, I brought over the Image:Karte Deutsch-Ostafrika.PNG map from the German wiki, but I was not very happy with it. I think this newer map looks much better. Using your blank world maps, I intend to make a large number of maps like this and so I would appreciate any suggestions that you may have. One question I have about this new image is this: what is better, Africa on its own or with adjoining continents? After cropping, I painted over the nearby European and Arabian areas. - 52 Pickup 11:47, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
As it turns out, someone had already started uploading some of my maps to the Commons! If I see any faults with the blank maps, I'll let you know. For 19th-20th Century European maps, I strongly recommend the site that I used for my German maps: http://www.ieg-maps.uni-mainz.de - 52 Pickup 10:55, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry for the Vandalism

I apologise on behalf of this IP address for the recent vandalism. This is one user of many who are using public computers that all route through the same IP. I understand that abuse of Wikipedia is not tolerated, but I also wanted to let you know the circumstances concerning this IP. Again, I apologise for the vandalism. --207.233.109.98 17:37, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Historical atlas

Hi Astrokey,

Thanks for your input on the WikiProject historical atlas. I want to keep the front page for an explanation of the project and to make a summary of the discussion that takes place on the talk page. therefore i will move your posts to the talk page. I hope you want to join and make maps. I will post my comments on the talk page as well.--Daanschr 07:55, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I have already removed it to the talk page and responded to it.--Daanschr 08:03, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello. I'm working on the historical atlas project as well, and, rather than asking you to join, would ask to keep you on retainer, as if you were a lawyer. After seeing the .svg you made of Europe in 220BC I was awed. Then I read your (commons?) userpage map-making notes about gray and bright colors and knew you had the extensive experience that underlies wisdom. Your comments, if not your membership (therefore I would only expect you to check on us infrequently, or perhaps I'll just post an RFC on your talk page periodically), would be greatly appreciated at our project. [edit] List of Manhattan Neighborhoods

I took the liberty of adding your diagram to the page itself because I don't think anyone will object -- It's absolutely amazing! I just wish I'd seen it sooner because it's gonna come in handy when wondering unfamiliar parts of the city (like most NYers, I don't know the neighborhoods off-hand). --gwc 19:44, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] World Subdivision Map

Ah, cheers, I was trying to remember what that template was. (such an unintuitive name :) Also, I've added the Mexican states from that map, thanks for pointing it out. +Hexagon1 (t) 07:18, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
