Rohan Marley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rohan Anthony Marley (born May 19, 1972, Jamaica) is the son of late reggae artist Bob Marley and Janet Hunt. He is a member of the Rastafari movement.
A 1991 graduate of Miami Palmetto Senior High School, he later played linebacker at the University of Miami. He played pro football in Canada for the now defunct Ottawa Rough Riders.
Marley and musician Lauryn Hill met in 1996. Hill has referred to Marley as her husband, though the legal status of their relationship is unknown. According to an October 2003 Rolling Stone article, Marley never divorced his first wife.[1]There are also claims Rohan Marley also has two children from a prior marriage to Geraldine Khawly: a daughter, Eden Marley; and a son, Nicolas Marley. [2] However, in the July/August 2005, Trace magazine interviewed Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley; Marley said none of this was true and that many lies had been written about them.[3]
Together they have four children: son Zion David born 4 August 1997; daughter Selah Louise born 12 September 1998; son Joshua Omaru Marley (January 2002)[4][5] and son John Marley (summer 2003).[6] As of October 2007, the couple is expecting their fifth child. [7]
Lauryn Hill has recorded songs about two of her children with Marley, "To Zion" on her first solo effort, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998, and "Selah" featured on the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood soundtrack in 2002.[8]
He is currently the owner of the popular Tuff Gong Clothing line.
