I LIKE the eccentric Wodger!!!!

I am a Mahler NUT! And listen to his stuff ad nauseum. I heard a performance of his 4th Symphony on my car radio one day without knowing who the conductor was and was struck by the clarity and utterly unadorned playing of the work.

Surprise! Surprise!

The conductor turned out to be Wodger! It was fantastic! I have always tended to go for Mutti, Abado, Haitink or Simon Rattle's 'interpretations of Mahler and I listen for their individual styles and interpretations (dangerous stuff...'buffs' soon get lost in their own baloney!)

I have learned from Wodger that 'anadorned clarity' is, for me, what it is all about! Put the ego to one side and let the COMPOSER whisper in your ear....

Way to go Wodger!!!
