Don't think this is true, believe the text is lifted verbatim from the Brett Easton-Ellis novel of the same name.

Actually, it's not verbatim from the novel. It's quite different. I've read an interview, though I can't remember where (it might have been off of Avary's site, or maybe it was from the DVD commentary), where Avary stated that he wove the diary of his own European trip in with Brett's and then with Kip Pardue's. Combined all three.

me thinks avary wrote this biography himself, if not, then a devoted (payed) assistant

Absolutely. A lot of band articles do this and it's bad form there. We aren't "Behind the Music" and we aren't in the business of tweaking up the drama of someone's life. --Dhartung | Talk 11:29, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

And yet, you claim to be an Inclusionist who believes in Recentism. I believe this article is in dire need of editing for attribution and could stand "tweaking down" the drama, but filmmakers like Avary and Tarantino are very much about their story. WikiTracker (talk) 17:10, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Didn't mean it to be a cheap shot -- apologies. It's just that those of us who've helped build this page don't think of it as "Behind the Music" (a cheap shot in itself) but a biography, not unlike a number of other filmmaker bios on Wikipedia. Filmmakers of the early 90's are all about the "story" and it's sometimes irresistible to not present their lives in the spirit of the biographies we're culling from. You're right, though, about it reading a wee bit dramatic. It does. Will work on that.  :-) WikiTracker (talk) 21:23, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
