Roger Mitchell

Roger Mitchell was a Scottish accountant who founded Marwick, Mitchell & Co., one of the predecessor firms to KPMG, the leading international firm of accountants.

Educated at the University of Glasgow, Mitchell was sent to New York City to run the family textile business. In 1897, together with James Marwick, he established the firm of Marwick, Mitchell & Co.. In 1911, when William Barclay Peat joined the practice, the name of the firm changed to Marwick, Mitchell, Peat & Co.

Mitchell took over as senior partner from Marwick in 1917 and retired in 1925.
