Roger (ロジャー Rojā?) is a fictional character in the Tekken fighting game series. Alex (アレックス Arekkusu?) is a palette swap for Roger in Tekken 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament, sharing his moves and win animations. Both are animals, genetically engineered to fight, and wear boxing gloves. Roger is a kangaroo, whereas Alex is a Dromaeosaurid. Both Roger and Alex are replaced by Roger's son, Roger Jr. (ロジャーJr. Rojā Junia?), from Tekken 5 onwards.

[edit] History
Kazuya Mishima took over the Mishima Zaibatsu from Heihachi. The Zaibatsu became more corrupt than ever under Kazuya's leadership and engaged in many illegal activities such as assassination, extortion, drug dealing and the smuggling of endangered species. Kazuya also recruited Doctor Boskonovitch to work for him. One of the projects he was commanded to work on was creating genetically engineered creatures. Through Boskonovitch, modified animals were created with DNA samples. Roger was created from Kangaroo DNA, whereas Alex was created using DNA from Dromaeosaurid fossil samples.
[edit] Tekken 2
Kazuya thought that Roger and Alex were worthless creations, and wanted to kill them. However, Roger and Alex managed to escape. They then met Armor King, who taught them to wrestle. Both Alex and Roger enter to fight in the Second Iron Fist Tournament.
Jun Kazama is an officer of the WWWC, a wildlife protection organization. She infiltrates the second Iron Fist Tournament to arrest Kazuya, who is smuggling and experimenting on endangered species. She found Roger and Alex and quickly arranged for them to live out their lives in Australia, where they would be safe.
[edit] Tekken Tag Tournament
Roger and Alex are playable characters in the non-canonical Tekken Tag Tournament game. This is Roger and Alex's last appearances as playable characters in a Tekken game. Both are palette swaps. It is Alex's final appearance so far in the Tekken series.
[edit] Tekken 5
Roger was kidnapped before Tekken 5, and his son, Roger Jr, enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, aided by his mother, to find and save him. After his son Roger, Jr. found out that the reason Roger was "abducted" was so he could watch television for the rest of his life, he punches his father through the roof out of pure anger, realizing that his rescue mission was for nothing.
[edit] Other Tekken appearances
After they appear in Tekken Tag Tournament, Alex and Roger do not make any more appearances in the Tekken series. Roger's wife and son are playable in Tekken 5, though. They fight as one, using the screen name Roger Jr., the name of Roger's son, although Roger's wife actually fights, and they replace both Roger and Alex in Tekken 5. Roger is playable in Tekken 5 as Roger Jr., but he appears in Roger Jr.'s Tekken 5 prologue and epilogue.
In Tekken: The Motion Picture, Roger retains his role as a kangaroo experimented on by Dr. Boskonovitch. For a moment, he attacks Lei and Jack-2, only for Boskonovitch to call him off. Roger later escapes the explosing Mishima resort with Lei and Boskonovitch, Jack-2 having sacrificed himself to keep the door open long enough to escape. Alex, however, does not appear in the movie, but a horde of humanoid dinosaurs based on Alex (named Rex) created by Lee Chaolan appear. One of them devours Anna Williams, but the rest of them are torn apart by Kazuya Mishima. The last one flees the resort, fearing Kazuya's wrath.
[edit] Endings
Tekken 2
Roger: A person is watching a documentary in Australia. A massive group of Kangaroos run across a large outback. As the film progresses, someone suddenly rewinds the film and a Kangaroo with boxing gloves is spotted. The Kangaroo (Roger) performs a running jump and punches towards the air. (Canon)
Alex:
Alex finds a fossil of another Dromaeosaurid and thinks about it. He then runs and remembers flashes of his ancestry and slowly begins to move more raptor like before jumping and punching into the air. (Canon)
Tekken Tag Tournament
Roger or Alex (Depending on the selection) are seen playing "Rock, Paper, Scissors" with Yoshimitsu. Alex's first game appearance was Tekken 2. Their boxing gloves force them to choose "Rock", while Yoshimitsu picks "Paper", allowing him to win every time.

[edit] Roger Jr.
Roger Jr. is the son of the original Roger. He replaces his father and Alex as a playable character in Tekken 5 (however, it should be noted that Roger Jr. himself does not fight but rather rides in his mother's pouch while his mother is the actual fighter).
[edit] History
Roger has a genetically engineered Kangaroo wife, who gave birth to their son, Roger Jr. Roger Jr. also wears gloves like his father, as does his mother. It is unknown where they learned to fight, but it is speculated that Roger taught them.
[edit] Tekken 5
Roger Jr. enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, to find and save his father. Roger was kidnapped and taken away. Roger Jr. and his mother will travel to the ends of the Earth to save Roger.
[edit] Tekken 6
Roger Jr. and his mom had participated in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 in order to find his dad, who had gone missing. After the hardships of the tournament, they finally found Roger, but were shocked to see that he had not vanished, but was instead living a life of luxury. Soon after discovering this, Roger Jr.'s mom filed for a divorce and thus became a mother-child family. But their lives were hard, lonely and unstable. When the The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 was announced, Roger Jr.'s mom hoped she could win the money, and by doing so, allowing them to start new, more stable lives.
[edit] Endings
Tekken 5
Roger Jr. enters an abandoned, trashed former Boskonovitch lab. He finds a photo of himself with his father, Roger. Roger Jr. looks further ahead and finds a sealed door. He kicks it open to find a room with an oblivious, very lazy Roger, resting on a couch and watching television. Roger turns to see a very angry Roger Jr., who punches him through the ceiling. He then walks out and crushes the photo of him with his father. Note: The show that Roger was watching was Xiaoyu's Dreamland from Tekken 3.
