[edit] Luana Lani

Hey thanks for the contib. to Luana Lani. I've seen some of those pics you were talking about and I'm wondering about the controversy. I read on a forum that the pics were under age but I wasnt sure. Thanks.

Llfanmangk 05:32, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Do you by any chance happen to know the real name of Luana Lani?
Llfanmangk 03:26, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Al Stewart

Thanks for that, I didn't notice the following para. I've deleted the second one because I think it's standard format to cite the birthplace at the beginning, alongside the date of birth. By the way, kudos for your work on the article, reverting the anon's very strange recent edits. --Richardrj talk email 05:52, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Hongkong vs HK stubs

Hello Rodparkes, I did indeed change the template name from Hongkong-geo-stub to HK-geo-stub, I only knew of the HK one. And then I realised that the HK one redirected to "HongKong-geo-stub", just a capital K away from what was put on the Tai Po New Town article. My mistake, hehe. The actual name for the stub is HongKong-geo-stub, so I'll change that back in the Tai Po New Town article. Oh, and remember to sign with "~~~~" every time you write a message! typhoonchaser 10:54, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:24.252.101.35

I have reported User:24.252.101.35 for violation of 3RR; it is becoming clear that he/she is only interested in deleting one particular image, under the guise of 'cleaning up the article'. Duke53 | Talk 15:18, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Aladair Clayre

Thanks for the comments! Yes I agree he is greatly overlooked. I originally bought his book of songs in the late 60s: at that time, sheet music seemed outrageously expensive so 100 songs (with guitar chords) for 9s 6d looked a bargain. About a year later I saw the Electra album in a music shop and bought it. There are some good songs on it (I think the ones about the river are my favourites). Also an unusual set of musicians. I got it out again recently when I was editing the article and realised that the sleeve notes were by Iris Murdoch and even included a quote from Wittgenstein - I don't suppose many album covers can match that! I hadn't known until recently that Clayre was also a brilliant academic. His suicide was a tragic loss! Anyway, thanks for creating the article! Bluewave 07:33, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Incredible String Band

Yeah, sometimes I'm a bit lazy and if most of my edit is spelling related, I might not point out in the edit summary the fact that I also simplified a single word. More than that and I generally enhance my comment. You are correct that auditoria is not incorrect; I just figured it was easier to read. Revert that word change if you like :) -- LeCourT:C 07:27, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

I've made a lot of changes to this article, mostly sourced from the Whittaker and Boyd books. Hope you think they broadly improve it - but I'd just like to thank you for all the work you put in before me! Ghmyrtle 11:02, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bob Seger

It wasn't my intention to remove the link in the article, it was a mistake I did when reverting vandalism from the article. I'm sorry about that. After reading the article, however, I have removed the sentence saying that this guy is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as per the policy on biographies of living persons. If you have a good source to back up the information (I couldn't find one), please revert my change and add a reference to the article. Nivix talk 15:01, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Long hair article

Hey, I just gave this article a major overhaul and noticed your name on its talk page. Just wanted to invite you to take a look and give input/improvement if you like. Wrad 11:43, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cathay Camera Club

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Cathay Camera Club, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Black Falcon (Talk) 05:10, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

That the Cathay Camera Club is "the leading (and believed to be only) English-speaking photographic society in Hong Kong" is indeed a claim of notability (and, in my view, a sufficient one), but it is currently unproven. According to the notability guideline for organisations, "a company, corporation, organization, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of secondary sources". If you know of any such sources, would you please add them to the article? My attempt to find reliable secondary sources turned up essentially empty. You may, of course, simply remove the {{prod}} notice if you feel that deletion is not uncontroversial, but the article would still be subject to review via the Articles for deletion process if it remains unreferenced.
As to why I have not tagged for deletion the other articles in Category:Photography organizations ... I didn't know about them, I hadn't reviewed the articles, and I hadn't conducted a search for sources. Again, I would be happy to see the article remain if it is referenced by secondary sources. Cheers, Black Falcon (Talk) 17:06, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Francine Dee article

If it is indeed fact and "many people have commented" it needs sources. Who has said that? That would be like me going to the Johnny Damon article and saying that many people say he has an odd shaped head. I wouldn't be able to add that unless I could find a source saying that many people feel that way. If you can find a reliable source then feel free to add it again. If it's simple statistics then show me the statistics. --Toxicroak 12:29, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Venue suggestion needed for a meet-up in Yuen Long

[edit] Deleted comment in G-string article - comment

I agree with you that it was not vandalism. I Assumed Good Faith in that edit and don't think I marked it or the editor as being vandalism. I wouldn't have any issue with it being re-added if it was better written, referenced, and/or expanded upon so as to show relevance (much like you did in your comment)... two out of those three things would be plenty. Anyway, thanks for your comment and understanding the intent of that edit. VigilancePrime 15:04, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Weasel words

Just wondering, have you seen WP:WEASEL? Reinistalk 08:34, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Elvis Presley

Parker got songwriters to give up 50% of their rights on some early songs, by giving Elvis a co-writing credit. He's not known to have written any song, except (possibly) a few words of You'll be Gone - with Red West. I don't think he should be listed as a songwriter. He didn't play 'a bit' of guitar; his early sound was created by only three instruments and he played one of them, and played it well. I think he deserves to be credited for that, but I don't really care what people change it to. Rikstar 08:58, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] American spellings

Thanks for pointing this out to me as an Americanisation - I genuinely did not know that there was an Americanisation of "judgement", and yes, it appears that my edit was inappropriate, but certainly not in bad faith. Thanks again. M0RHI | Talk to me 16:42, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Guitar Hero

I reverted to your status quo; there won't be any more edits for now, though I also started a discussion thread about it on the Guitar Hero (series) talkpage; maybe we should discuss it there? Rdfox 76 03:00, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copy and paste move

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that recently you carried out a copy and paste page move from Guitar Hero. Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. [edit] September 2007

Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and the articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to Sex tourism. Readers looking for serious articles will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you can write (almost) whatever you want. . Cheers_Ad@m.J.W.C. 02:01, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sex Tourism and the Boatman

I suggest you check the facts before you rush to judgement. If you check my previous edits to this and other articles you will see that I am a serious contributor. "Boatman" is an actual film about sex tourism which I have seen, and which is listed in the Internet Movie Data Base. Kindly check it out before you accuse me of inserting joke entries. I will revert your reversion. Rodparkes 02:10, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Bangkero, Ang at the Internet Movie Database
Please don't restore this film; a list of appearances in fiction doesn't really help the Sex tourism article. Frankly, I'm not confident the list of documentaries is all that useful, but at least those are informative. / edg 02:26, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion regarding inclusion of Mormon temple garments in Undergarment

Hi there! I saw you previously weighed in on Talk:Undergarment regarding the presumably Mormon-originating censorship of the Temple garment image. I was originally very much in favor of including the image as per WP:CENSOR, but I am starting to lean the other way -- I think one can make a strong argument that the image is gratuitous in the Undergarment article (it clearly should stay in the Temple garment article, of course), and I suspect it may have originally been added in an attempt to make a point. Now, I abhor censorship in just about any form, and furthermore I was raised Mormon but now consider myself an atheist, and as such I find these misguided attempts at secrecy to be offensive and repugnant. So obviously my natural inclination was pro-inclusion -- but I am starting to question that now. In a way, I think including it so prominently in an article that, after all, is only marginally related to the garments, may in effect be baiting Mormons into trying to inappropriately censor Wikipedia.

I am still very much on the fence myself, and I would like some folks from the pro-inclusion camp weigh in as we attempt to find a consensus. So please stop by Talk:Undergarment and tell us why this image is not gratuitous in its current location. Thanks! --Jaysweet 19:51, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hong Kong Dollar

  • Firstly it is Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) not Hong Kong SAR Dollar (HKSARD).
  • Secondly, brief introduction improves readability.
  • Thirdly, Hong Kong is a global city, and one of the characteristics of it is first-name familiarity, meaning the city is recognised without the need for a political subdivision. (pls read global city for further explaination)

As for grammar, if you read the sentence again with Hong Kong English in mind, there shouldn't be any problem. ( You may reply here, I will check your page again when I feel like it ) --58.153.48.207 (talk) 21:10, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Substantial edits at the Dorje Shugden article

Dear editor I like to draw your attention to that specific article, Dorje Shugden, which was substantially changed by a group of three new editors, without any discussion on the talk page. Rather one of the new editor revealed: "Many of these changes were discussed between at least three of the editors." which must have happened outside of WP, because there is no discussion on the talk page or their WP-accounts. One of the new editors claimed: "You seem to be the only person who accepted this article as it was. If you check you will see that the changes made make this article more neutral and unbiased then it was before previous edits." If I check I see the article omitted different POV's, deleted verified passages, included passages from anonymous websites and turned the article to a more bias Pro-Shugden POV. I'd like to ask you to check that and to give your opinion or to collaborate if there is a need for improving the article, so that we can have an unbiased, neutral, well-informed article which fairly presents all POV's. Thank you very much, --Kt66 (talk) 19:37, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
