Rodney Hunt

Rodney Hunt is an African American businessperson and former minor league baseball player. He is CEO and President of RS Information Systems (RSIS), an information technology contractor, a company he co-founded in 1992.

On March 22, 2005, Rodney Hunt was named the 2005 Minority Small Business Champion of the Year by U.S. Small Business Administration’s Washington Metropolitan Area District.

When he graduated from high school, Hunt had the chance to play minor league baseball, but his parents really wanted him to go to college. He double majored in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering at Cornell University. After graduation Rodney decided to play minor league baseball for the Washington Black Sox. During that time he also worked as an engineer. After four years of baseball he tore his rotator cuff which ended his career in baseball. He then became a full time businessman. Hunt became a senior associate for Booz Allen Hamilton, a large government contractor, and then co-founded RSIS with business partner Scott Amery.

Over 60% of RSIS employees are women or minorities. RSIS is the 15th largest African American service company in the United States. RSIS generated $327,000 in profits in its first year of business. By 2005 when Hunt was recognized the company had made more than $365 million.
