Roderick Hood (born October 3, 1981 in Columbus, Georgia) is an American football cornerback who currently plays for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He was originally signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2003. He played college football at Auburn.

Hood attended Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia and was a letterman in football, basketball, and track. In track, his 4x100 relay team went to the state finals, and he helped lead the basketball team to the state finals.

Hood played college football at Auburn University. As a cornerback, he finished his career with five interceptions and 106 tackles. He was also a star return specialist, returning 51 punts for 571 yards (11.2 yards per punt return) and averaged 19.9 yards on kick returns.

Hood signed as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2003. Following an injury to starter Lito Sheppard, Hood worked his way into the starting lineup in 2005 where he had 3 interceptions and 41 tackles. Following the 2006 season, Hood left the Eagles in free agency and signed with the Arizona Cardinals where he is the starting cornerback.

According to the 2006 Pro Football Prospectus, Hood was the third-best cornerback in the NFL last season at stopping pass plays that were targeted in his direction. The same publication listed Hood as allowing the fewest amount of yards on passes thrown his way, with a 4.9-yard average.

  • (9/12/05) Recorded 6 solo tackles against the Atlanta Falcons
  • (11/27/05) Picked off Brett Favre with 38 seconds left in the 4th quarter to secure an Eagles victory over Green Bay.
  • (12/18/05) Recorded 8 tackles and a 53 yard kick return against the St. Louis Rams
  • (10/7/07) Picked off two Gus Frerotte passes against St Louis including one in the 4th quarter which he returned 68 yards for his first career touchdown. The pick broke the 20-20 tie and helped secure the 34-31 Arizona win.
