Steve Justa is a strength training author and enthusiast currently residing in Harvard, Nebraska, USA. He is commonly associated with odd-object lifting; the use of unwieldly objects such as barrels, sandbags, in place of conventional weights.
His first book, Rock, Iron, Steel; The Book of Strength (1998), includes his own philosophy and attitude towards physical training as well as instructional material relating to diverse facets of the pursuit.
In 2007 Justa produced and self-published a book known as the High Plains Heavy Metal Iron Masters' Super Strength Bible. This is only available by direct postal order to Justa and comprises twenty hand-written pages of training advice as well as autobiographical information and a collection of photographs.
In addition, Justa is a regular contributor to Milo magazine.

Justa's approach to physical training can be seen as related to his engagment in manual labour through his life and his training interests often involve a component of endurance, in addition to low-repetition strength. The need to gradually develop a solid foundation of fitness is emphasised, as is the importance of thinking in a long-term manner when considering progression. Consistency and momementum are explained to be essential characteristics of a successful training plan.
A concept described as the "target zone" refers to an intensity of approximately 70% of the trainee's maximum in a particular lift. Justa believes this to be the optimal level at which to conduct most strength training to ensure reliable and consistent improvement.
