As it stands, this page seems awfully promotional, almost like an ad. -- Jmabel | Talk 06:12, July 10, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Flavor

Just because I felt like trying something different, I went to pick up some energy drinks and I grabbed a can of Rockstar. I searched the can for any indications of what flavor I should expect, but it didn't mention anything. So I went here hoping that it would mention what flavor I had bought, sill didn't mention anything. So I figured I'd describe the flavor, and maybe somebody can work it into the article. Anyway, I'd describe the flavor [of the origional, in the black can] like liquid nerds [which is really just condensed sugar with artifical fruit flavors], really tangy and kind of sweet, but it's got a sour aftertaste, then after a minute or two it tastes like you just ate a box of nerds. I couldn't STAND the black-can variety. I spit it out and threw it away. Juiced in the puple can, on the other hand, is sooo flipping good. Unfortunately, one ONE gas station in my town carries it. Kingoomieiii 08:17, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

couldn't disagree more. I can't stand juiced 76.102.183.62 (talk) 14:29, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

To me the stuff in the black can tastes kinda bubble gum flavored. Not alot, but just a little. Either way Rockstar is the best tasting energy drink around IMO Fisha695 06:52, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Health

Is there any information available on the health effects of these drinks?

[edit] Ingredients

Carbonated water, [high fructose corn syrup]], glucose, critic acid, taurine, natural and artifical flavors, sodicum citrate, caffeine, caramel color, benzoic acid, sorbic acid, L-carnitine, inositol, niacinamide, calcium pantothenate, milk thistle extract, ginko biloba leaf extrac

[edit] Sorry, I just really like it.

Perhaps it sounds a bit enthusiastic, but hey? I *am* a really big fan of their products. I wrote everything there (past the horribly inaccurate stub), so I can tell you that it's not astroturfing or anything like that. I tried to cull any non-factual information (so as to avoid making it sound too promo-esque). Are there any specific areas you'd like to see re-vamped? --boinger 14:01, 13 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Good stuff

  • The current article seems impartial to me, though I have to admit, I am a huge fan, too. It seems popular, too, selling out in many stores while Red Bull's 4-packs get a little dusty. Not that there's anything wrong with the original energy soda pioneer. (Who thought it would take over a decade or so to combine the Jolt cola concept with the Japanese vitamin-soda concept?) I love Red Bull too, but Rockstar has a similar tasty tartness (which I now prefer over the Bull, though probably caffeine addition created a Pavlov-esque response), delivers quite a bit more bang for the buck, and has a more impressive vitamin/herbal roster. Not to mention any other non-Red Bull/Rockstar drink I’ve tried tastes awful, as if they are trying to get away from soda-pop stereotypes to differentiate themselves on the market. The result means flavors that range from "Fermented Leftover Halloween Candy" to "Sugar, Fruit, and Laundry Soap."
Bawls tastes much better. More like a Sprite type beverage. --C S 17:38, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
  • If you like Red Bull and Rockstar, and are looking for an alternative to beer, see if they have "Sparks" in your area. Very tasty energy drink with caffeine, vitamins, and herbals, plus it's 6% alcohol! Durty Willy 03:25, 29 July 2005 (UTC)
  • I love Rockstar energy drinks. I have to admit that I didn't know about it until I heard Michael Savage talking about it (I'm a big fan of Michael's). So I said "What the hell...I'll try it out." Whoa....let me tell you...this stuff really picks you up. Kudos to Russ Weiner for a job well done. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.35.15.107 (talkcontribs) 07:44, May 30, 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Substantiation re Michael Savage claim

Now please stop reverting it. http://www.sfweekly.com/issues/2001-04-11/news/feature_3.html —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ben-w (talkcontribs) 22:57, July 30, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] This question may seem stupid but I'm still curious.

I was wondering if, Russell Goldencloud Weiner is in any part related to Rockstar Video Game company as well as the drink company. The actual article about Rockstar game mentions nothing of the individuals who devolped the company so I really couldn't find anything out from here. I'm googling it right now but since I'm at a public school they block almost anything to do with video games because "Violence" and "Naughty Words" are bad and cause "A surge in youth violence" so I probally won't discover anything before then. So please post if you know. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.144.44.21 (talkcontribs) 15:08, December 14, 2005 (UTC)

I too am curious if this beverage company is affiliated with the software developer. --NEMT 17:19, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nope.

ROCKSTAR Energy Drink is not affiliated with the video game. There is a mutual agreement in place that the video game company will not manufacture energy drinks and the energy drink company will not start to produce software.

[edit] Claims

Can someone get a source for the comment that was put on the article: "The drink itself fluoresces when exposed to UV light. It is also turns urine a neon green color."

I've deleted the urine comment because I think it was vandalism, but I can't prove the UV Light comment.

Any sources would be nice.

I can confirm that drinking the non-flavored kind of rockstar (The basic black can Rockstar) will indead turn your urine a bright yellow color. The Red (Pomegranate), Purple (Guava), and Blue (Zero Carb), will not do this, however. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 13:00, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

That bright yellow is probably due to dehydration. This might be the end result of your body losing fluids due to the diuretic effect of caffeine.. 12.217.236.33 04:57, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, but the comment said neon green.. lol.

I have analized my urine many times. It was a definate 2 shades closer to neon green than before I drank it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.131.130.147 (talk) 19:17, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

I'll have to check the UV comment.. that's interesting.. --User:ToughLuckMeadow

I checked the UV comment with the sugar-free Rockstar drink with the UV light we use for scorpion hunting. Scorpions do fluoresce under UV light, but sugar-free Rockstar energy drink does not. Dolomedes 21:30, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup

I'm not sure the article needs a cleanup any longer, I've added a bit to it and added some citations. I can find the bit about Gumball 3000 on Rockstar's news bar but unfrtunately the whole site is in flash so citing directly to that bit is impossible :(

Citation of further sources needed but I think the cleanup is done. Joncojonathan 17:22, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

added rockstar+vodka section and pic.

[edit] Affiliations

I've removed the following section, previously entitled "Affiliations", from the article:

Rockstar is a sponsor of the 2006 Metalcore tour, a Panther Racing car driven by Tomáš Enge in the Indy Racing League (sponsorship ended in 2005), The Playhouse, UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, XCW Pro Wrestling, Gloria Stuart, Abigail Breslin, Bea Arthur, professional paintball team San Diego Dynasty the Taste of Chaos music tour, and Bam Margera's Viva La Bands 2 music tour.

They also sponsor 12 year old (as of May 2007) BMX racer Austin Hicks of Arlington, Texas.

On 1 January 2006, Rockstar announced a multi-year contract to be the "Official Drink of the Gumball 3000".

Rockstar is also a frequent sponsor of many boxing events (including the Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight).

San Francisco band Karate High School is officially sponsored by Rockstar Energy Drink.[1]

Rockstar is a sponsor of V8 Supercars Team Tasman Motorsport, in the Australian Racing Championship.

Rockstar is also a sponsor of Summer Winter Action Tours

My reasoning for this is that the section is a trivia section. It adds nothing to the article and a list of affiliations which are irrelevant to the drink. Imagine the Coca Cola article listing every organization and trivial group the company has sponsored. Instead, it mentions the advertising in prose and omits trivial details that this section is entirely composed of. Not to mention, only one of the affiliations has a citation. 高 03:54, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
