[edit] Music video
Another cameo in the video that directly relates to that celebrity would also be when Gene Simmons lip-syncs the lyric with Cher. Gene Simmons and Cher once had a serious relationship in the 80s. Jshwa6 20:46, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Isn't Akon in the video? it looks like him dancing by the house construction or wood.--Crocodileman 22:12, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Contradiction - The describing paragraph in Music Video states that "At the end of the video Nickelback is shown playing live on stage; this shot was filmed in July 2007, at a show in Mansfield, Massachusetts." Yet in the numbered break down of each scene, it says "128. Nickelback fans at Hershey, PA concert / Chad Kroeger / Mike Kroeger and Ryan Peake" which one is correct? --Skyleth 14:23, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Mansfield, Massachusetts is the correct location. There is even a YouTube video from the crowd documenting it, as well as the comment below. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 12:54, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Not that they couldn't have recorded at multiple shows, but I was at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield when they announced they were shooting for the video. The columns at the far edge of the venue also appear to be Tweeter's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Essempiem (talk • contribs) 15:08, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

99 I don't think this is Victoria Beckham
116 The boy in front of Tower Bridge. I think it's Alex Stobbs, the subject of "A Boy Called Alex", a Channel 4 (UK) documentary of someone living with cystic fibrosis. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.192.40 (talk) 21:03, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- That's an excellent thought (musical boy with illness), but they don't seem to have the same facial structure or hair. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 23:17, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- When was the video filmed though? It's not an exact likeness, but it depends how far apart the filming of the show and the video were. Also, the video quality of the one I saw wasn't great, just the youtube video. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.192.40 (talk) 21:33, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- According to the Music video section, the video was being planned in June 2007 and the concert footage is from mid-July 2007. The exact date of release for the video itself isn't listed. If it had been shot a couple of years earlier, perhaps. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 22:34, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
3. I see no evidence that the man in the music video is Fatal1ty, despite the similarity. Having looked at numerous photos of the fellow now, his ears and mouth (and age of face) look different. An appropriate lyric to be associated with, though (and I'm never gonna win) --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 05:36, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Regarding Dizzie Rascal: I don't think the third person in the limo is him. He has worked with Twista (there's a video of them and a few others rapping in New York) but he's from London and I can't find any supporting evidence. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 14:47, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Regarding Brandon Berman: Parent claims "Brandon M. Berman, Age 12, Weston, FL" and such a person exists; I'll leave it for now but clean it up. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 14:49, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

- Not even the right gender (39 is Jessie Coleman in Grand Central). At any rate, Chris Noth is not in the video. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 12:54, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Nickelback rockstar.jpg
Image:Nickelback rockstar.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:30, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Who keeps adding Victoria Beckham to the list of people in the video? The blonde woman in front of the hilltop is *NOT* her. She does not appear in the music video. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.177.34.102 (talk) 14:49, August 22, 2007 (UTC)
[edit] censorship
i saw the video on vh1 today and we need to say something about how heavily it is censored. i swear every other word is omitted, here is what they block: the drugs come cheap i'm gonna bite my pills from a pez dispenser everybody's got a drug dealer on speed dial and there's some more but i forgot... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.160.222.253 (talk) 01:20, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] song meaning
I'm removing the parts of the song meaning section that refer to the devil, since not only does it seem like a stretch, but it claims a citation int he form of "songmeanings.com" which is a site, like wikipedia, that is user-edited. IE I could right now add to it that the song is about the Armenian genocide, cite that and put it on wikipedia. Then I could go to the Nickelback page and write that they had addressed controversial topics such as the Armenian genocide. Then I could go BACK to songmeanings and write that I wanted to suck Chad Kroeger's penis, and then I could come back to "rockstar" on wikipedia and write that "this song makes some listeners want to suck chad kroeger's cock" point taken? Dsmccohen 12:29, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
I think there's nothing wrong with citing user-edited sites -- you just have credit the *user* not the site. In your example it would mean you said it would degenerate to "this song makes some listeners want to suck chad kroeger's cock -- Dsmccohen on songmeanings.com". 62.232.55.118 (talk) 11:52, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Per Wikipedia:Verifiability#Self-published sources (online and paper), such a site is unacceptable as a source. Flatscan (talk) 02:38, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] 'Voted' best comeback
As anyone with even a passing interest in music charts will tell you, the idea that a song could be 'voted best comeback' on the Hot 100 is nonsense. It re-entered the chart that week (it's common sense to call the week by it's chart date (July 7), not 'week 27'), it wasn't voted anything, and it's that website that calls a chart's highest re-entry a 'comeback', not Billboard, who actually produce the chart. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.145.241.121 (talk) 14:30, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Guy in the steel mill
I have no evidence of this, but if you look at the guy in the steel mill with the shovel and the hard hat, it looks like his shot was done in front of a green/blue screen. He really doesn't appear to be dressed appropriately for his job. I could be wrong but I just wanted to point that out. Eli H 02:20, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
I thought exactly the same thing. It's probably a random dude that they threw in front of the green/blue screen for the video. Xenon52 07:34, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] This is entire edit war of the list and the genre is quite stupid
So I had a better idea. And yes this is possible. How about we just you know... Send them an E-Mail or a letter and stop this edit war. Angry Sun 02:01, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] genre?
im confused. is the genre "country rock" or "hard rock"? the whole things confusing now —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.204.151.101 (talk) 16:18, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Kirsten Dunst
118 is not Kirsten Dunst. Freeze frame the video and it's quite clear. Also, the friend is the one from 080. Just two unknown women. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 02:36, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
looks more like kirsten in the bath was sure it was her —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.141.234.190 (talk) 18:03, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Don´t think so. If you see the video in high quality and freeze the frame, than for me it is quite clear that it must be Kirsten Dunst. Anybody with annother meaning? 92.226.150.199 (talk) 22:20, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- Not sure which you're addressing, the bath or the Sydney shot. The bath is definitely Dominique Swain and the Sydney shot is of two women, one of which is in an earlier shot alone in front of the bridge. At a minimum you'll need to resolve: 1) being in Sydney; 2) having red hair; and 3) having a totally random friend be in one more shot than herself in Sydney.
- Kirsten Dunst is not in the video. (I've seen the video in high quality.) Their label has free versions on their web site if anyone's interested. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 02:54, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I ment the shot in front of the opera house. But after watching it in high res on QuickTime Player I guess you´re right. But, you have to agree that she looks like Kirsten Dunst in the first moment ;) 85.176.246.250 (talk) 17:40, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Censorship on radio
I just heard this song on Virgin (UK) a noticed the word "ass" is blanked out (e.g. they just sing "Hire eight body guards that love to beat up / Sign a couple autographs so I can eat my meals for free" and "I'm gonna dress my with the latest fashion"). The drug references were still there though. 13:56, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Is it appropriate?
To have the entire video listed out clip for clip of the people in it. Wikipedia discourages lists, especially extensive ones. I will leave it for now but what do you think? 80.195.80.148 (talk) 02:55, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- It may be discouraged but I don't see anything in the list guidelines to justify its removal. The list does appear to violate verifiability. Also, it contains the lyrics to the song, which may infringe copyright as I don't think annotated lyrics qualify as fair use. That said, quite a lot of effort has gone into the list over the past six months. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 10:28, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Given the unique nature of the video I think it entirely appropriate. CoW mAnX (talk) 07:48, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Music video section a bit excessive?
I feel like Wikipedia is not really the appropriate place to list every single cameo or appearance in a music video, especially when that list is over 100 items long. I mean, the section even mentions Yahoo Answers (which, in itself, is not exactly 'notable' enough for inclusion on Wikipedia)... Why not just keep all this sort of discussion over there instead of on an online encyclopedia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.153.244.252 (talk) 19:59, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Obscure?
Hi, I've just re-added the info on the parody TCW did of this video. I find it hard to believe that you find a unit of the British military who are in a war zone making such a video as "too obscure".
The Royal Dragoon Guard's parody of Amarillo gets a mention on that page, why shouldn't this? --LookingYourBest (talk) 14:50, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Barring a truly newsworthy event, it's obscure trivia. It has nothing to do with the source of the video. The other parody you mention was notable for crashing a server at the MoD. (Although there's no supporting verification for that. I'd remove the other link as well, but I'm watching this article, not that one. Also, that text has been in place for over 2-1/2 years.) Please don't take it as an affront because of any affiliation you may have with TCW.
- If you look at WP:SONG, the featured (model) articles do not have parody sections. Yesterday has a slew of parodies but not one is mentioned. I Love Rock 'N Roll has a section for other cover versions, which includes a Weird Al parody. Rockstar wouldn't even qualify for a list of covers, let alone a section of parodies. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 17:55, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Line #54
The guy singing "I wanna be great like Elvis" looks an awful lot like LeVar Burton. Is it? 76.102.47.166 (talk) 20:44, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Definitely not. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 14:53, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Why do you say definitely? 24.20.217.215 (talk) 04:47, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- If you have a higher-resolution version of the video (there are links on this page), you will see that it is clearly not LeVar Burton. It's also not the butler from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. More importantly, there is no confirming information anywhere that can be referenced. If you have some, please, it would be good to know. --Kevin Ruddy (talk) 23:32, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
