Talk:Rock phosphate

[edit] Rock phosphate or phosphate rock ?
So a rock which contains a significant component of one or more phosphate minerals , is called "rock phosphate" or "phosphate rock" ? Seems to be two entries for these now. Eregli bob (talk) 12:18, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- It would appear that "phosphate rock" is nowadays preferred. Rock is the noun and phosphate is the modifier adjective. "Rock phosphate" is analagous to "rock salt", which is salt from a mined ( rather than marine ) source.Eregli bob (talk) 12:23, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
