Talk:Rock Street Journal

[edit] Speedy Deletion!!!!
For a page that cites sources, and at the risk of sounding pompous, pretty well-written!! That definitely needs reconsidering..
As for the accusation that the article was written by the website owner, that's absolutely false. The article was created by me, and you can look on my userpage to see more of my contributions. I have no connection with RSJ, although I don't know how it's possible to prove it, or disprove it for that matter. I agree that the DYK hook on the main page looks like a promotion for the website, but I voiced the concern while nominating the article for DYK.. [1] The admin(s) who put it on the main page didn't think that was too important.. And the reason may be that RSJ is genuinely involved in promoting rock music in India, and this database is a part of that initiative. Hope this justifies keeping the article on WP. -- Longhairandabeard 02:34, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

- I removed the CSD; probably just vandalism. --Parker007 02:36, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
it's CLEARLY an advert and disgusting how Wikipedia is being used. there's millions of great articles and we need to focus on adverts for publications! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.169.151.143 (talk • contribs) 03:38, 22 February 2007

- Perhaps you could explain what makes you so certain this is advertisement? -- Longhairandabeard 05:06, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] circulation?
42,000? that's just a claim. joseph 22:30, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yup, so it says in the article.. I couldn't find any other, more reliable sources for it. -- Longhairandabeard 05:48, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- i've got very reliable sources, but i doubt that it's verifiable... somewhere in the region of 3,000. yes. that's three and three zeroes. joseph 06:41, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- Wow! That's a big difference. What are the sources? We could find a way to include them in the article. Btw, there should be some kind of agency doing circulation estimates for Indian magazines. Do you know of any? -- Longhairandabeard 07:43, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- the source is from within (entirely off the record, though). but as i remember, even their own company profile didn't claim as much, in 2000-01 when circulation was at its peak. i'll look it up. joseph 07:54, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm.. We'll have to find something more solid than that. Perhaps you can lay your hands on the company profile. Btw, found this but no mention of RSJ. -- Longhairandabeard 08:39, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- just found the profile, and i was wrong.. it says 42,000. that's the same figure... i was thinking of the figures for delhi alone... somewhere around 8000. i guess we'll just have to wait for "we're number one" war to break out with rave, to get the actual figures... sorry about that. i could check with "the source" but would be an unnecessary, long-drawn-out process. joseph 14:47, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
