Rockwell College, founded in 1864, is a well known private catholic secondary school near Cashel in South Tipperary, Republic of Ireland. It offers day as well as full boarding. Rockwell is run by the Holy Ghost Fathers. Famous past pupils include Irish President Patrick Hillery, current Chief Justice John Murray, Dr. Maurice Manning, Former Senator and President of the Irish Human Rights Commission; Liam O'Flaherty, Fr. Denis Fahey, Gerard Danaher SC, Irish nominee as Judge of the European Court of Human Rights, David Keane BL and former Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces, Lieut. General Colm Mangan. Another past Irish President and a major figure in Irish history Eamon de Valera taught there, as did Thomas MacDonagh, poet and nationalist who was executed after the 1916 rising. It has a proud rugby tradition with several Provincial and International players such as Denis Leamy, and fields strong teams in the Munster Junior and Senior Cups.
