[edit] Features

Rockstar Games Social Club will provide certain different features based on the type of game. At the moment, the only known details of the Rockstar Games Social Club is what will be provided to Grand Theft Auto IV players.

[edit] Grand Theft Auto IV

Social Club for Grand Theft Auto IV currently consists of seven parts and will expand as time progresses: [2]

  • LCPD Police Blotter - The Police Blotter will collect data from all online users of GTA IV, and show how much crime is committed in each area of the city. It will also show the most dangerous areas of Liberty City, what the most popular weapons are and much more[2].
  • The Story Gang - The Story Gang will be a leader board showing who has completed the story mode of the game. There will be 2 parts to this: The first part will show the first 10 players to complete the story mode of the game; and the other part will show the quickest times that the story mode has been completed in. Members of the gang will receive special online bonuses marking their achievements in the game[2].
  • The 100% Club - The 100% club is very similar to the story gang, but this time marking the achievements of gamers that have completed the game 100%. There will be 2 leaderboards, one showing the first 10 people to complete the game, and the other showing who has completed the game quickest. Anyone who completes the game with 100% between 12:00 am April 29, 2008 and 11:59 pm May 19 EST will be sent a 'key to the city' to mark their achievement[2].
  • The Hall Of Fame - The Hall of Fame will mark many records and statistical achievements completed by users within the game. It will also contain a personal awards display of a gamers personal in-game achievements[2].
  • The Liberty City Marathon - The Liberty City Marathon will be a ranking of special physical milestones within the game. There will also be many competitions based on marathons for this area of the Social Club[2].
  • ZiT Music Service - Players will be able to download real life MP3 files of songs heard on the radio stations in the game. Once a player hears a song that they like, they can then pull up their in-game mobile phone and call "ZIT-555-0100". If the player has their console gamername linked to their Social Club account, they will then be able to then access a list of of songs they have tagged via the Social Club website. They can then purchase the song via Amazon MP3.
  • Multiplayer Leaderboards - On May 28, 2008, Rockstar launched the multiplayer section of Social Club. The section currently consists of a player's rank, their ranking compared to other players, their score, and the amount of games a player has won and lost.

[edit] Midnight Club: Los Angeles

At this time, Rockstar has yet to announce the feature set for Midnight Club: Los Angeles.

[edit] Problems

Due to high demand being placed on the system, there have been a number of problems both major and minor. Some people who have not yet completed the game have been admitted into the 100% club winning a tangible prize, while others who have completed the game 100% have not.

There have also been problems with the less important areas such as the ZiT section and the police blotter with significant amounts of data missing.

Some people have even had their data entirely wiped from the system due to constant system crashes and instability.
