Rockstar (or ROCKST★R) is an energy drink created in 2001. Rockstar is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was founded by Russell Weiner, who currently serves as CEO. Russell Weiner is the son of the talk radio host Michael Savage. [1]. It is sold in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and Mexico and currently comes in ten varieties [2].

The tastes of the original and sugar free varieties is similar to Red Bull but their zero-carb kind harbors that of a carbonated fruit juice. Varieties with pomegranate, guava, and orange-mango juice also exist, as well as blended coffee flavors.

In the UK, Rockstar Energy Drink contains 160 mg caffeine per 500 ml can, requiring it to display the warning: "THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS CAFFEINE. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN, PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING WOMEN OR INDIVIDUALS SENSITIVE TO CAFFEINE." This also appears on the American 473 ml can (16 fl/oz). There is also a version in America that tastes like fruit punch. It is called "Rockstar Punched".
[edit] Alcoholic Version
Several alcoholic versions of Rockstar are available. In Canada three varieties are sold, one under the name "Rockstar + Vodka", and another named "Rockstar + Vodka/Pomegranate", with both having an alcohol content of 6.9% by volume. The third Canadian variation, called "Rockstar + Vodka Light," has a slightly lower alcohol content at 6.6% by volume, and also contains less sugar than the other alcoholic variations. In Canada the legal drinking age is 19 years in most provinces, and 18 in others, thus the name difference for the products marketed to Canada (the American version is called "Rockstar 21," an implicit reference to that country's drinking age).

In June 2006, Rockstar donated $50,000 to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in support of their college scholarship program. [2]
