Rockford Raptors are an American soccer team, founded in 1994. The team is a member of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, and plays in the Midwest Conference against teams from Indianapolis, Lawrence, Madison, Milwaukee and St. Paul.
The original Raptors were a member of the old USISL in the early 1990s, and played for seven seasons in the USISL Pro League and Premier Development League, reaching the Conference Playoffs on two occasions before folding at the end of the 2000 season.
The new team, which was reformed in 2007, play their home games at a stadium in the city of Rockford, Illinois. In addition to the NPSL side, the Raptors are a major boy’s soccer club in northern Illinois.
The team is not to be confused with the Rock River Raptors, an indoor football team also based in Rockford which is a member of the Continental Indoor Football League.
