Rockford Fosgate has two distinctive series, Punch and Power. The Punch series is for the casual or entry level consumer who wants Rockford quality and the best value possible. The Power series is for the more serious consumer, the amplifiers are more powerful and of a heavy duty construction, upgraded preamplifier sections and over built power supplies.

Modern Rockford Fosgate amplifiers have been criticized for not having their power levels under-rated to the same degree as older models. Starting in 2007 they have gone back to their old ways of underrating the amplifiers. Some enthusiasts insist that the older Rockford Fosgate amplifiers are of higher quality and power, but Rockford denies this, maintaining that their current models are of the highest quality. Enthusiasts are now saying the units made starting in 2007 are the best products that Rockford Fosgate has ever produced.

In 2006 Rockford Fosgate introduced a new amplifier technology they call hybrid technology or HT for short. It was unveiled at the consumer electronics show (CES) in Las Vegas. The technology makes it possible for the amplifier to put out more power than it takes in during extended musical transients. The technology was invented by one of Rockford's Design Engineers, Anthony D'Amore. Rockford currently holds a patent on this technology (US Patent #7,239,206). Currently the HT system only exists in Rockford's flagship amplifier, the Power T15kW, it can deliver 15,000 Watts RMS and retails for $24,900 USD.

Since 2006, Mitsubishi started using Rockford Fosgate as the sound system for their new models.

Nissan also uses Rockford Fosgate as the sound system in several of their vehicles.
