Rockfeedback

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rockfeedback.com is a London-based music webzine that has been online since 2000. Focusing on alternative and indie music, it provides reviews, global gig information, interviews, videos, mp3s and competitions. It was originally designed and maintained by Transgressive Records co-founder Toby L, who founded the site at the age of just 15. He has since launched an affiliated production company (Rockfeedback.tv Productions) which is responsible for the Rockfeedback TV show which debuted on MTV Two in August 2006 before being shown on Channel 4 the following autumn. Control of the original rockfeedback site was delegated to Tom Hannan in the summer of 2006. The site has been described as ‘one of the UK's fastest-growing, yet originally established, online music magazines, specialising in audio-visual content and the first interviews and reviews of all the next-megastars.’ [1]UK record label XL Recordings praised Rockfeedback as a platform for 'intelligent journalism by scarily passionate young music-lovers.' [2]

The site has also become a meeting place and literary outlet for many individuals within the music industry with active members of the music business; including promoters, DJs, musicians, managers and press agents writing articles/columns, occasionally under aliases. Among the sites regular writers are Tom Hannan, Matt Tomiak, Christiana Spens, Alex Lee Thomson, Michael Lewin and Tom Hocknell.

Rockfeedback also hosts a club night in London's Buffalo Bar, Islington, and often features bands that would normally play to much bigger crowds including The Magic Numbers, The Libertines and The Kooks. It is now in its 5th year and has recently held its 40th event.
