Rocket U-boat
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Rocket U-boat was an abandoned military project to create the first ballistic missile submarine. It was conceived of by Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Plans for the rocket U-boat involved an attack on New York City with Germany's newly-invented V-2 rockets.
[edit] Timeline
The Second World War saw the birth of the world’s first ballistic missile, the V-2 rocket. An idea was proposed to use a submarine as a launch pad for these missiles, which would give the weapon enough range to strike at any city in the world. Indeed, the Third Reich had planned to attack New York city using the rocket U-boat.
