[edit] History
Rocket Science was founded by Kevin Day in August 2004. After a 12 year stint with Universal Music Group, Kevin was unceremoniously downsized. Over the course of the previous year, Kevin had identified a growing trend of 1) artists releasing their music themselves without a label infrastructure or 2) entrepreneurial labels growing rapidly in an evolving marketplace with little or no infrastructure. Rocket Science was developed as a turnkey solution to provide label services on an as needed basis.
Rocket Science staff has grown to 8 full time staff and their label and artist roster has grown at an equally rapid pace.
In 2006 Rocket Science added a label distribution deal option via Warner Music Group to its suite of services available to clients. This synergistic arrangement via WMG’s independent arm called ADA offers digital and physical distribution outlet one of the premiere independent distribution companies in the USA. ADA won Independent Distributor of the year at [[|NARM in 2006 and is currently the annual market share leader in Independent music sales as measured by Nielsen Soundscan.
