[edit] The first season

The first season of Rock of Love featured 25 women who would compete every episode in various challenges to win dates with Bret Michaels. At the end of each show eliminations would be held, in which Bret would choose who would continue to the next round.

Controversy arose when it was claimed that Heather had tried to sleep with Vanilla Ice during the filming of another VH1 reality show, "The Surreal Life: Fame Games". Also, contestant Erin is overheard having a phone conversation with the boss at the restaurant she works at, wondering she would have been able to wait on Justin Timberlake if she had been at work.

The two finalists: Heather and Jes. Jes won the first season; however, it was revealed in the reunion show that Jes did not have strong enough feelings for Bret, and she told him that she had cheated on him. Jes would go on to say that he and Heather had the best chemistry.

The Hollywood Mansion where the contestants lived during the first season of Rock of Love was previously used during the fifth season of America's Next Top Model.

Season 2 was officially announced via commercial during the I Love New York 2 finale.
