Now widely considered Chuck Berry's first album [1], Rock, Rock, Rock (Chess LP-1425) was originally marketed as a soundtrack album for the motion picture of the same name, which was not true. There were many artists that appeared in the film that were not on the album. Only 4 songs on this album ("Over and Over Again," "I Knew From the Stars," "You Can't Catch Me," and "Would I Be Crying") actually appear in the film. Additionally, 8 songs by Chuck Berry, The Moonglows, and The Flamingos make up the balance of the songs on this album that do not appear in the film.
In a later Chess session the Moonglows sang background vocals for Chuck on tunes like "Back in the USA" [2].
