United States Capitol dome, 1846

A daguerreotype of the United States Capitol in 1846, with the original green copper dome as designed by Charles Bulfinch. Over time, extensions to both the north and south wings, made to accommodate the addition of new states to the Union, made the dome aesthetically displeasing, and as a result, it was replaced by a white cast iron dome which was completed in 1866.

OK, not straightly vandalism, though it would have been better to address the situation first on the talkpage, this looked a bit like spam, sorry for that. The references tag had an error, it read <references>, but it should read <references /> (so with the trailing /) .. I have repaired it. Hi Robin,

Actually the best way to make new articles - would be to make them under your user page using a sub page - that way you know where it is and it is yours do as you please (mostly). So for example lets say you wanted to make an article on "Killer penguins". Either write User:Robin63/Killer penguins in the GO tab, and create the article with new content, or write http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Robin63/Killer penguins in the browser url bar. Note the forward slash makes it a subpage, and you can have subpages of subpages. See Wikipedia:Subpages.

So to carry on the example here is the Killer penguins start for an article - User:Robin63/Killer penguins
