[edit] Sorry for your loss
Sorry for your loss. Please understand that although anybody can edit Wikipedia, there are some ground rules. See WP:NOT.
One of those things is Wikipedia is not a memorial.
I voted to userfy the content from the page, which just means that the content should be copied to your own userpage here at wikipedia. I already did this, but since I'm a little new too, I'm not sure if I did it correctly!
You are welcome to stay and edit and create other articles. If you have any questions, you can leave a message on my talk page.

My condolences on the loss of your dog. I know how tough that is. I hope you are not offended by the deletion discussion for your article, but as Roodog2k says, we have some ground rules here for article content and titling. Don't take it personally. Please peruse the information linked above in the welcome message, and feel free to ask me any questions on my talk page. Cheers, android79 17:21, September 1, 2005 (UTC)
No Offense taken. Please thank you for pointing me in the correct direction. Have a good day. --Robfdavis1971 20:01, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Dogs and cancer and wikipedia
Rob, I'm so sorry to hear about Cotton. Sounds like you and he had a great relationship. I lost a favorite big yella dog to cancer 2 years ago and I also wanted to memorialize him; I created several pages of my own (not in Wikipedia) to talk about his illness (hemangiosarcoma) and treatment and eventual death. You might or might not want to peruse these at Remington's page (click link for Remington's cancer information).
At Wikipedia, I look for ways to contribute to various dog articles, adding my knowledge of whatever I can. You could start browsing at Category:Dogs and look at any of the subcategories and articles to see whether there's something that you've learned from Cotton that might fit into some of those places. I started an article on my dog's cancer type (hemangiosarcoma), to try to pass along the information that I learned.
Meanwhile, since you kindly released Cotton's image into the public domain, I've added it to the Wikipedia:List_of_images/Nature/Animals/Dogs/Misc1#Miscellaneous_dog_images Wikipedia dog images page so that people know it's available for use.
Let me know if I can help you in any way or if you just want to chat about Cotton. You can leave a message on my talk page, although I'm not here every day. Elf | Talk 18:48, 1 September 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. The information you have provided has been very helpful in my research on what happened to him. You have been very kind. Thank you. --Robfdavis1971 20:00, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] That's a sad story
Sorry to see that article, Rob, and I note it took you some four days to do it. Bet you were just feeling too bad for a while to do anything very much. I'm not a dog guy myself, but I've lost a few cats, so I know losing a pet is hard in the extreme.
Please don't take some slightly harsh comments on the Votes for Deletion page to heart - there's a large amount of stuff goes through there and sometimes it's difficult to tell a genuine mistake due to not knowing the ground rules, from just basic stupidity and vanity (you were very much in the "genuine mistake" class). Please do stick around; it looks like Elf will help you out but if you just want a general moan to somebody else, feel free to give me a shout. Tonywalton | Talk 21:31, 1 September 2005 (UTC)
- Just for your information, the original article in "mainspace", that is, the place where the articles live, has now been deleted by an administrator at my request (since you asked for it). Tonywalton | Talk 21:41, 1 September 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply.....and I have planned to read more the details of Wiki and the do's and don'ts. I appreciate your kinds words. Thank you for deleting the article as requested. Have a good day (I posted to your talk page as well). --Robfdavis1971 19:59, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
- No problem, Rob. A couple of small points though (not to nitpick!)
- It's usual to put edits on someone's talk page at the very bottom (like this is) as that way it's easier to see the new message when you get the "orange box" saying you have new messages. That's unless you're following up to a discussion that's already ongoing, of course; then you'd tend to put your followup message under the stuff you're replying to. If you're following something up, people often indent their contribution by prefixing it with one or more colons. Each colon indents by one "tab"
-
- like this
- and this
- like this
- If you're starting a new item on a talk page, people usually start it as a new section. That makes it stand out. To do that, either use the '+' tab (next to Edit this page at the top of the edit screen), or put the title of the new section between "equals" signs like this:
==A new discussion==
- People vary in their policies about where to put replies. Some (like me) will have the "conversation" over two talk pages, with my part going on your talk page and your part on my talk page. Others prefer to keep the conversation in one place and put the page on their watchlist to see when it's updated (your own talk page should automatically be on your watchlist).
These aren't "rules", merely conventions, but they can make reading a conversation a lot easier!
Oh, and one further clarification – I didn't delete your page (only admins and above can delete pages, and I'm not an admin), I merely requested its deletion, as anyone can. Cheers. Tonywalton | Talk 09:15, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Syngenta
Yilloslime, I have removed the quotes as it seems more appropriate per your guidance.
