Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

Meelar (talk) 20:36, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. In the latest months I've created pages for Bob Sinclar, Modjo, Joey Negro, Snap!, Ron Carroll. I've also made some updates to Boris Dlugosch, Rui Da Silva, Blaze and Jason Nevins. If you feel you can add anything to them, feel free.

Also, please take a look at the musician article requests and see if you recognize any name. I intend to do some of them later, especially the deep house artists. --Pc13 08:29, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Dance Artists

Please watch your stubs! Hi Robert, please pay attention when placing solo artists into categories, for example if you were to put Mariah Carey into "female singers" you need to type it as "Category:Female singers|Carey, Mariah" so that the name is properly alphabetized on the category page. Thanks! -- eo 13:44, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Radio stations

According to WikiProject Radio Stations, WXXX (AM) is the preferred format for AM radio station articles. There's no such thing as a radio station with an "-AM" suffix; all AM radio stations are unsuffixed. If you disagree, could you please discuss it with them rather than creating or moving existing articles to titles that aren't in accordance with the current policy? Thanks. Bearcat 19:30, 27 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Request for edit summary

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 1% for major edits and 100% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 27 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 04:06, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WMWB-LP Logo

Hello, I have a WMWB TV logo you can upload to the WMWB-LP page. I don't know how to add it to the page but I did upload it to this website. Here is the logo: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Image:WMWB_logo.jpg

[edit] Toronto radio templates

If you're going to put the Toronto AM and FM templates on stations in Oshawa and Hamilton as well as stations in Toronto, then could you please not put the Category:Radio stations in Toronto category on the template? Stations in Hamilton and Oshawa don't belong in the Toronto category, because they're not in Toronto, but putting the category on the template automatically applies the category to every article the template is on. Thanks. Bearcat 18:51, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RN

Since RN is Australia-wide, it's a bit pointless adding templates for radio stations in every major city that RN is also broadcasted in. We already have a list of radio stations in Australia. Perhaps you might like to make a template consisting of Australia-wide radio stations? Dysprosia 03:35, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summaries

Hey Robert, I was just going to leave this on your RfA before I saw Essjay closed it. I'll repost it word-for word in what I was going to say:

 • Comment: Check Wikiproject User scripts for a tool that will get you in the practice of using an edit summary. While a little annoying at first, I've checked mathbot a few times, and my summary usage has been at 100%. You have to understand that I typically don't oppose, and I feel bad about doing so, but I'd like you to get acquainted with the community a bit more. Forgive me for being a metapedian to your exopedian, but I guess that's just how RfAs are nowadays. Good luck to you in the future and let me know if I can help at all, Mysekurity [m!] 03:06, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Canadian FM stations

For your information : all Canadian FM stations have an -FM suffix to their call sign, unless they are extremely low-power stations with a VF- seminumeric call sign. Moving articles to titles without the -FM suffix does not conform to Wikipedia naming conventions and is incorrect in any case. — ABCXYZ (talk) 23:07, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Radio Monitor

Hey that's cool - the Billboard issue date and song didn't match, that's all. Wasn't sure if the date or song was incorrect and as I'm a Billboard.com/Billboard.biz subscriber that's what I had to go on. -- eo 10:41, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi again - just curious as to what issue date you're going by for the Hot Dance Airplay article. If Billboard has Saturday issue dates, and the 06/24 issue has Madonna at number one, wouldn't the issue date be 07/01 for Nick Lachey taking over? For example, when Billboard issues its next round of charts (Hot Dance Airplay included), the website and print editions will not be dated June 25. -- eo 17:44, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I figured it was something along those lines. I was going to suggest we decide on which issue date to go with, but your suggestion of sticking with Billboard makes sense. Best to keep all Billboard-related articles uniform, right? Thanks.... July 1 sounds best for the Lachey thingy. Talk to ya later! -- eo 18:41, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Good job on the tv shows

[edit] Template:Toronto FM

Hey, good job on the Toronto FM template, the colour is pretty good. What do you think about moving this template to Template:GTA FM? It is for radio stations in the Greater Toronto Area afetr all, not just Toronto itself. Gimme a shout back. --Reaper X TC 22:00, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Max Headroom Episodes Subcategory

Thank you for organizing an episodes subcategory for Max Headroom.--P Todd 23:51, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dance categories

Hi, the new Category:Dance musical groups is a good idea. Other genre categories split up groups and solo artists, so the dance categories should do the same. I have placed the new cat in the Category:Musical groups by genre and Category:Dance musicians categories as Category:Dance/Club music artists is being merged into Category:Dance musicians. --musicpvm 22:59, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Also, based on previous discussions including Category talk:Categories named after people, most users have agreed that the only category that should be placed in an eponymous category is Category:Categories named after people or one of its subcategories. So for eponymous categories for musicians and musical groups (for example Category:Ace of Base), the only category that should be included is Category:Categories named after musicians. All other categories should be placed in the actual article. Thanks. --musicpvm 00:46, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for your comments: it is a new tag.

Thanks for your comments regarding catdiffuse. It is a new tag: I was cleaning up the Politics section and I noticed that the users and myself have a nasty habit for using general categories. My WP:INT project can apply to categories too: better subcategories to integrate content and reduce redundancy. Now if more people will go along with it, that would help things. Cwolfsheep 23:05, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] R&R (magazine)

I thought that I would drop you a line , as I was bold and moved the R&R article from your name R&R(Magazine) since it is standard to have a space before the parentheses. I love what you wrote in the article!

I see we have several things in common, including Wisconsin and an interest in electronic music. Very Cool! --Royalbroil 04:44, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi! I have a question. In the first sentence of the R&R (magazine) article, there is the word "cumes". I think either a replacement word or a definition of that would be appropriate -- I'd do it, but I'm not quite sure what it is supposed to mean myself. Thanks! -- ArglebargleIV 22:17, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Thank you!! -- ArglebargleIV 22:56, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Natalie Reid

Please do not remove a wikify tag when the article clearly needs to be wikified. Thank you. Ohyeahmormons 00:52, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

What I mean by wikified is that it needs to be in a proper form of an entry. The information isn't bad, but it needs to be edited properly like an article. The tag is there so one of the more experienced users can edit it correctly. :) Ohyeahmormons 01:43, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vanished

Excellent--thanks for adding the categories. I'm not good at that sort of thing. I am surprised by how little action the Vanished pages have gotten. I've tried to put in place a framework that others can augment, but a lot of work can still be done. Thanks! Transcendentalstate 12:54, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Signature

[edit] Bodyrox

Ain't that always the way things go around here?  :) I have honestly thought of motioning to enhance the instructions on a new page with a great big "STOP BEFORE PROCEEDING" warning. Of course, it would be ignored, so here we sit. Oh, well. - Lucky 6.9 06:32, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fashion models

Shouldn't we make a seperate category for fashion models from other types of models?? It helps the viewer see the difference between fashion models and glamour models, foot models, etc.. Lil Flip246 21:58, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Weeeird

My mistake, that was a really weird mixup. Let me know if something like that happens again - my apologies. JoeSmack Talk(p-review!) 18:54, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Television series by network

I don't know if you're still doing this,[1] but please don't categorize television series by any network other than the one for which they were originally produced, which will include more than one only if it was a joint production (such as Rome). Rerun airings or international broadcasts in secondary markets are not definitive of the subject, compared to the network that ordered its production and can or did order its cancellation. Not limiting them in this manner also would inevitably result in a flood of dozens of categories on every TV series article that has been shown globally at one time or another. See the WikiProject Television2 on this, as well as a prior discussion showing consensus for this narrow application. Apologies if this is now a moot point. Postdlf 01:25, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, didn't notice until just now the section above titled "categories" that already addressed this issue. Postdlf 01:27, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] link to British

Hello, when you want to link to the article about something British, please do not link to British, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as United Kingdom or Great Britain by writing out British or British. Regards, Jeff3000 20:36, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Billboard links

Hi Robert, just letting you know I reverted your edit to the external links on the Hot Dance Club Play article. I don't think the links should point to Billboard.biz because users are required to pay for a subscription and have a login ID to view those pages, whereas on Billboard.com it is free and the link takes readers right to the chart page, even though it is not the full chart. If you disagree with this let me know - perhaps both could be listed? - eo 21:18, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Hmmmmm interesting! Although it may be your subscription to R&R that allows you in, as they have merged. Try logging out of your R&R account and see if you can view charts on .biz. I'll do the same with my browser and see what happens. - eo 21:39, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
I guess so! I thought at first maybe there was a glitch with the sites, but I was also able (without loggging in) to go to R&R and look at the full charts and access all the info - and I've never subscribed to R&R. Makes me wonder now why I am paying for a subscription when just anyone can get the full listings... although I too get the print issues in the mail. Seems kind of silly to have the full charts on one site and abbreviated charts on another, don't you think? Go figure. - eo 21:56, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Ugly Betty

Hi Robert, thanks for letting me know about the changed circumstances of the Ugly Betty characters. I had a feeling when I closed the AfD that the article would eventually need to be split up if the series took off, so I have no problems with this being done. If there are any technical problems with moving articles that require admin tools to fix, please let me know and I'll do what I can. Cheers, Deathphoenix ʕ 04:18, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WKBT

Hi Robert,

You recently added affiliation details on Wikipedia's article for WKBT, a television station in La Crosse, Wisconsin. You added comments on secondary affiliations with NBC and DuMont. Do you have a source for this information? Someone (not I) has tagged the information with a (citation needed) tag, and I'm hoping to be able to verify the information you've provided, so that it can be kept in the article, and so that I can use the information on the List of former DuMont Television Network affiliates. Best wishes, Firsfron of Ronchester 02:05, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vidas de Fuego

Howdy! I noticed you moved the content of Talk:Vidas de Fuego/Temp to Vidas de Fuego/Temp. Should it go to Vidas de Fuego or do we need to wait for the copyvio template to be removed? (I haven't worked with copyvio before, so I am not sure.) - fmmarianicolon | Talk 08:28, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliments on the changes to the two pages, and thanks for working to move the page! - fmmarianicolon | Talk 21:32, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
I thought we had to wait a week to see if the original creator of the page wanted to contest the copyvio. Jaysbro 16:23, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jowharah Jones

That is fine, but it is still in no way clear how she meets WP:BIO criteria in the article, so that would be something to work on here. I've also removed Personal Interests per WP:TRIV. Cheers!--Isotope23 12:06, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Fighting Irish (30 Rock episode)

I reverted your edit to the above article regarding Molly Shannon's character as speculation. While I think that you may have a point, it is still ambiguous enough to where we would need a source to say that is what the writers were going for with that joke. They may have also been using a comically-Irish Catholic name, too. youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 03:23, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Buses WikiProject

I notice that you have edited lists of bus routes recently. You might be interested in helping with the new WikiProject buses, especially the proposed Bus route list guide. We are also working out when a bus route should have its own article and other issues. --NE2 15:38, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A friendly tip

If you want to have articles appear in a category under the subject's last name, or any other name, you can type Lastname, Firstname at the beginning of the category list, and all the categories will automatically follow the stipulation. I haven't done this myself, but I've seen it done. YechielMan 05:03, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Template:Houma/Tri-Parishes Radio

A tag has been placed on Template:Houma/Tri-Parishes Radio requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>tranclusionless</noinclude>).

[edit] Rhymthic and Urban Contemporary Airplay Panel

Hey Robert,

I saw that you have been editing the lists of these radio stations. In the post, it says, "The stations are ranked by the highest audience cumes based on Arbitron ratings and are modified twice a year."

My question is: Is the list that follows of 82 stations in order from 1 to 82 from greatest to smallest audience share? And if so, where did you find this information. I'm doing some research on Urban radio stations and was trying to find a source for this information. I went to the R&R website but wasn't able to find a way to sort by individual stations with the most share. [edit] Move

Please do not move a page to a new title via cutting and pasting text, as you did with KSWD-FM. Each page on Wikipedia has an edit history that must be restored when a move is performed. In the future, please utilize the "move" tab located at the top of each article page. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask myself or at WT:WPRS. Thank you. [edit] KVMX cut and paste move

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. Specifically, you copied the contents of KVMX. This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming an article is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.
