[edit] Robert Byrne
I have an interest in mathematics, politics, technology and the arts. I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
In mathematics I'm interested in foundations of mathematics, logic, category theory and theoretical computer science.
In music, I like Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Arvo Pärt and Reich, among others. I'm also a fan of Brad Mehldau, David Bowie and Depeche Mode.
In film I enjoy the work of Robert Altman and Joel and Ethan Coen. In television some favourite programmes include Twin Peaks, The League of Gentlemen, Dr. Katz and The Mighty Boosh, and possibly the best documentary series ever, Civilisation.
Books I like include Catch-22, A Short History of Nearly Everything, Eats, Shoots and Leaves and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Cities interest me too, as places to live as well as to visit. I have lived in Dublin, Edinburgh and Toronto, and recently (well, over the last ten years) visited Chicago, Ottawa, Montreal, Rome, London, Vienna, Paris, Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam and Brussels. In the early 90s I visited Moscow and St. Petersburg. Of all of these, I've visited London, Vienna, Paris, Berlin and Brussels more than once, and will hopefully return!
One of my favourite computer games is Another World.
I started the articles: Kan extension, Liar (film) (as "Deceiver (film)" with redirect from Liar (film)), Kenneth Brown (playwright). I also created the European Empires page, essentially because something better than a bizarre redirect to EU was needed.
