Talk:Robyn

I had a question about an identical song by an artist with an identical name, read Talk:Robin S. for the question. --SuperDude 06:23, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Links to Robyn sites
I added two links to the article section, external links, but those have been removed several times, why, I don't know, I can't see any reason to remove these good links. So I link to those sites here instead, if they will be removed again from the article. There is a Robyn fansite with a lot of information about the swedish pop-princess at: Robyn Fanzone There's also a forum with the latest news and the hottest stuff at Robyn Forum.

[edit] The article title
I think it's actually wrong. Oops? :-) Her artist name is Robyn, her real name is Robin Carlsson. Naming this article Robyn Carlsson seems clearly wrong to me. I noticed a redirect at Robin Carlsson was missing as well. Can this one just be renamed to that, with the Robyn article fixed to redirect to such a new name? -- Jugalator 01:42, July 26, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] You are right!
Yes, you are so right. It SHOULD be Robin Carlsson, redirected from Robyn of course.
- I agree. If there is no opposition within the next few days, I'll move the page if no one beats me to it. / Alarm 11:18, 26 July 2005 (UTC)
Her REAL name are Robyn Carlsson, that was changed from Robin +10 years ago - hope this helps :-)
Robyn Carlsson is her real name since +10 years ago when she changed the spelling from Robin into Robyn. Hope this helps :-)
- OK, then I won't move the page. Could you possibly provide a link to some official source or newspaper article where this is mentioned? / Alarm 13:37, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

- OK, an update here. I asked in the Swedish article, and Robin Miriam Carlsson is her name according to the Swedish Tax Agency at least last year, so this seems to be incorrect. -- Jugalator 17:04, July 27, 2005 (UTC)
- Hmm, if that's correct, that part should be in the article, in my opinion, but I think we'd need some source for this. Strangely enough, I couldn't find anything in Swedish news about it. On the contrary, a Swedish national TV channel referred to her as Robin Carlsson in an article dated 2005-06-30. Hmm... I may look a bit further later. Or ask in the swedish Wikipedia talk page for this. - Jugalator 05:23, July 27, 2005 (UTC)

- It was I who checked the public databases at the Swedish National Tax Agency in 2004 when I wrote the article about Robyn for Swedish Wikipedia to have her date of birth verified. Her full name is (or was in 2004) Robin Miriam Carlsson. For reasons of privacy, the databases are not available on the Internet though. Thuresson 12:35, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

- OK, I've moved the page now for a naming I think is a bit more correct, and fixed up the redirects. -- Jugalator 02:23, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Controversial
It's about that sentence: "It is also the name of a rap song in the end of her self-titled album, which is considered to be a little controversial for this young pop singer." What is this comment about? I suggest to leave out the second part of the sentence or explain it. I really don't know, what age has to do with it... (felix)
Robyn was also not responsible for the 90's club track Show Me Love which was actually the work of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_S.
- They were two different songs, same title and similar artist names meant that the two songs often got confused. But they were different songs. Robyn's Show Me Love wasn't a club song either, it was geared more towards the pop charts. The page Show Me Love states this also :) Princesskirsty (talk) 22:54, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cleanup
This page needs a huuuuge cleanup! some parts need totally re writing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jak3m (talk • contribs) 20:15, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] gail porter
when i first saw the video of robyn's and kleerup i thought it was gail porter. does anybody else think they look alike?
Wikipedia is not a forum.--Jak3m (talk) 21:50, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
chill out, they just asked a question about Robyn's appearance. Such conversation is what these discussion pages are for! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.57.189.31 (talk) 08:55, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
No. You are wrong. These pages are not for such conversations. Only for discussions to improve the articles. They, as said, are not forums. Read the Wiki guidelines.

[edit] NPOV
Why is NPOV disputed in this article? Leopold Stotch (talk) 05:29, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- I dont know since I havent read the entire article, but the first sentence of it currently contains "is widely known in her homeland" which probably sets the tone of the rest of the article. I think this is a case of WP:PEACOCK, but I am not the one who have disputed the article so I dont know. Article has previously been tagged for both WP:CLEANUP (here) ({{Cleanup-rewrite}}, see discussion above) and WP:AWW (here) but these were removed by someone (here) while at the same time replacing a free image with a non-free / fair use image of Robyn (album). I doubt that was an attempt to fix the possible problems, but it lead to the addition of the POV tag (here and here). --Bamsefar75 (talk) 12:57, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Backstreet Boys
Just thought you may want to know. Robyn was just on GMTV being interviewed by Andrew Castle. He mentioned about her working with Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys. She said she's never worked with the Backstreet Boys and said he'd been using Wikipedia for his research and that you shouldn't trust it. He admitted it and that his research wasn't very good.
Does anyone want to remove this as this came directly from her and has no references either? I thought it was quite funny that a 'respected' presenter just goes to Wikipedia for his research! I love it, but you do have to be careful! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.139.159.224 (talk) 07:53, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
