Article is extremely laudatory and has no reliable sources whatsoever. I'll nominate this for deletion soon if not fixed. coelacan — 03:47, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Article creator says over at Image:061013001601.jpg: "This picture was emailed to me directly by the owner, Robin J. Elliott. It is public domain." So there may be WP:COI concerns as well. coelacan — 03:50, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi - I put this page up today and would like to be able to add to it with some external sources - what I have used so far is from the unpublished autobiography of Robin Elliott. I should be able to edit it tomorrow and would appreciate it if it wasn't deleted in the meantime. Thanks. Oysterle 03:58, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Oh - and I can tone down the "laudatory" aspects if that's a concern. This is my first Wikipedia page, so I'm still learning. Oysterle 03:59, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. It would be best to use only sources that are not connected with Mr. Elliot. You can incorporate content from his autobiography, but please make that clear: "In his autobiography, Elliot recounts..." And one of our policies on Wikipedia is to adhere to a neutral point of view regarding all topics. (You have probably seen other articles that didn't have a neutral point of view, but they're not supposed to be that way and you should use a {{npov}} tag when you do see them.) So the tone should be neither praising nor disparaging. Ideally it is possible to balance this while also including quotes; if, for instance, a South African dignitary had expressed praise of Mr. Elliot, it would be possible to quote that directly as long as it's clearly and reliably attributed. Also, if you're aware of anyone's criticism of Mr. Elliot, it would be good to include some of that as well. coelacan — 05:55, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks so much for your help! I will take down a lot of what I've put up and re-edit it. I can put back some of the subject matter when I have some attributable quotes. Great! Oysterle 15:06, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

I've now taken out most of the autobiographical content and added a source linked to the joint venture techniques Mr. Elliott uses. I hope this is helpful for now - I am tracking down more sources so that I can put more information back. If you could give me an idea how to improve/solve the photograph issue I'd appreciate it. Thanks again for all your guidance. Oysterle 15:32, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

I've now put citations into the page from Robin's book which is available for free download online. I've also taken out the "disputed" comment since I've done such a radical edit. I hope that this is acceptable to the editors. If not, please give me more guidance as to how I can improve this article. Thanks. Oysterle 15:47, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
