The description of the alkaline diet presented in the article is misleading. This description is sometimes seen in discussions, and is easy to criticize. Alkaline diet is (mainly) not about the blood pH, but about the pH of the entire body, especially of the body tissue. While the blood pH is tightly regulated and therefore seems to contradict the (crude) description of the purposes of the alkaline diet, body tissue can have a much wider range of pH. The criticism presented does not apply to this more profound sense of the alkaline diet.
