Talk:Robert Finlay, 1st Viscount Finlay
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"He sat on the Woolsack for three years, and in 1919, on his retirement, was created Viscount Finlay". This seems to imply that he chose to retire as Lord Chancellor: Lord Finlay was a distant relative of mine (great-great-uncle), and there's a story in the family that he received a message saying "The Woolsack is required for another".
