I removed the following paragraph:

Smith is currently the president of the Everglades Foundation. [1] While a U.S. senator as chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee in 2000, Smith championed the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) through a GOP-led Senate.

The website http://evergladesfoundation.org/directors-staff.php does not list him anywhere.

The addition of the Hitchens quote in the first paragraph is clearly biased and does not belong at the very beginning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.108.186.27 (talk) 14:05, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Removed Hitchens quote. It's funny and all but it's invective and abuse and doesn't belong. 216.135.32.188 (talk) 14:57, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Height

Does his height really belong in the opening? JBFrenchhorn (talk) 18:40, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
