Roborough

The village of Roborough is situated to the north of Plymouth, South West England, lying in the South Hams, just outside of the city boundary.
The Plymouth Argaum rugby club grounds are just east of the village. In the main street, long since bypassed by a modern dual carriageway, there is a very old pub named after the family surname of the Lopes, Baron Roborough. As tax has bitten through estate duties since the 1920s so this family have retreated in stages from the grand mansion at Maristow down on the Tamar to Roborough House just off the Tavistock Road and latterly to Gnaton a smaller idyllic mansion on the coast near Noss Mayo.
Roborough Down is the name given to the long stretch of mainly flat gorse covered National Trust moorland across which thousands of commuters on weekdays and Sunday trippers cross daily to and from Yelverton.
There is also another Roborough in mid-Devon situated south east of Great Torrington near Winkleigh.
