R66
Type Light utility and trainer helicopter
Manufacturer Robinson Helicopter Company
Designed by Frank Robinson
Developed from Robinson R44

The Robinson R66 is a new five seat turbine powered helicopter to be produced by the Robinson Helicopter Company (RHC). The R66 is intended to be somewhere between Robinson's four seat piston powered R-44 Raven 2 and a Bell 206 JetRanger in terms of performance and the first Robinson Helicopter that will feature a separate cargo compartment.[1] A Rolls-Royce RR300 turboshaft will power the new helicopter. The R66 is expected to reach the market sometime between 2011 and 2013.

The N-Number N466R was assigned by the FAA to the Robinson R66 Helicopter with Serial Number 0001 on or before 28 September 2007.[2] While no formal announcement regarding the development and testing phase has been made by the Robinson Helicopter Company, various photographs taken by visitors to the factory or adjacent area have been posted on the Internet, including what looks like an R66 engine testbed and photos of the flying R66 Helicopter prototype.

According to participants of the RHC factory safety course in January, Tim Tucker (Robinson's Chief Instructor) speaks quite freely about the R66. According to these reports, the R66 is 7" wider and taller than the R44, back seat is said to be 3 place, with the middle raised and pushed forward somewhat so that all the shoulders rub less with three passengers. The baggage compartment apparently can hold two sets of golf clubs. The R66 comes with a T-bar cyclic and the engine at 45° angle with no belts.
